Hi - good morning. I'm looking for Avs S items (just fits into my routine:D).

Without meaning to offend, I'm reading this thread and thinking some of you are paying too much, comparing to prices that are too expensive for me!

I'm waiting for 30pack Shredded Wheat to go down to £1.34 somewhere (£2, or £2 less 10%, is too expensive). I'm waiting for a 87p on the Jacob's Clubs (comparing to £1 on those is too much).

A couple of rolls of kitchen roll at £1 (or 90p, 10% less) also doesn't impress me, given that 99p Stores have 6-pack rolls (Flair kitchen rolls) at 99p. However - I now understand, partly - the A ones are 100 sheets comparing to 50s. Still seems a bit dear to me though - as it's still equivalent effectively to a 4 pack 50 sheets per roll (99p stores is still 6!), but - how many sheets do the Flair ones have? I should know, but I don't:o. (Perhaps not too embarassing as it's even more rather geeky to know that - I'd be more normal by not knowing such things!) You can work out whether I'm getting a good deal or not on the Flair rolls - the pack says it's 8.7 metres a roll.

Also I'm unimpressed by £1 prices on 2L fizzy drinks, given that the Jammin' Pineapple 2L (and Tropical, Punch and Lemon?? Not sure as no longer have any of those left) were 33p in T a long time ago - I've still got a Jammin' Pineapple fizzy drink left, expiry Sep 2013. Also Vimto 2L at 65p in M a long while back. So, in that context, having seen those prices before, £1 comes across to me as a rip-off! Paying more for particular branded pops doesn't money-save!

£1 (or 90p 10%) for 2L bottles also doesn't look good per unit due to these current offers - Barr Tizer, Cream Soda or Limeade 2L: 2 for £1.50 M and R Whites Lemonade (Regular or Diet) £1.29 2 for 1 for W. 75p each and 64.5p each respectively. So I'd compare to those if you can (i.e. are outside Northern Ireland). (It's also the reason why the Fantas and Sprites 2Ls are missing from my vs M list - only the best prices make it to there!)

However - I now see - there's 50p MOCs to be used and poss. Quidco, so that could make a difference! Nonetheless, I've gone for the free Sprite 500ml - although only a quarter of the amount (I've got a 2L Jammin' left anyway, plus 2x R Whites from earlier vs W comp'ing, and some Fanta as part of attempted glitch). Combined with APG in the right way it could be paying me to take it! Now, that's better than 90p, or even 40p (with MOC), even if getting 1/4th of the amount.

Ordinarily I wouldn't compare vs £1 pops and only do so if there's a trigger that makes it worthwhile. Why are you comparing against Fantas/Sprites at "normal" £1 prices??! That's way too much for me and it needs to be compared from non-normal glitched full prices to those normal £1s if it is to be any good value.

Yes, but Flair are a false economy. I've tried them on more than one occasion and each time you get through a 3 pack\6 pack\8m pack twice, maybe three/four times faster than a better quality product which doesn't require three/four sheets.
S 2 pack (100 sheet) after APG works out at about 90p for the equivalent of 4 x 50 sheet rolls of a much higher quality product comparible to Plenty. To me, and of course all this is subjcetive that's a much better saving. The initial outlay may be slightly higher but the longer term cost is far lower :)

Paying too much for aomething is subjective. Plus if someone needs a thing maybe they prefer to buy it when they need it instead of waiting for a price reduction and go without

Quantity v quality on the kitchen rolls i guess. Some economy towels are absolutely rubbish

I think they said they weren't getting anymore because their store sold out and there was no longer space for it

I agree with excel and aau1 about cost versus quality.

Those 99p store kitchen rolls aren't very absorbent!

I just finished reading your post

90p branded pop is a good deal IMHO and saves on one less needless filler

Also i might save by buying one of the drinks you mention but i don't want them. Is it money saving to buy something you don't want/won't use? Yes, but i would rather save money on things i like than on things i don't
