Is anyone else plagued with dodgy people constantly looking for scrap metal where they live. We are here, they are always knocking on asking if this, that it whatever else is scrap. We took a metal climbing frame down last week because the kids are too old for it now. It was old but cost about £400 when I bought it a few years back. It was outside the garage and plan was I was going to recycle it in to frames with nets to cover cabbages and broccoli.
On Wednesday these scrappy people knocked and asked if I wanted them to kindly get rid of it for me. I told them it wasn't scrap, no thank you. Well they've obviously thought otherwise and decided they were having it anyway :mad::mad: we just got back from taking the dog for a walk and it's all gone. Along with 2 big aluminium planters that had plants in them. Oh Im so mad....my OH said not to bother ringing the police, but I have. I know it's probably been weighed in by now and I'll never see it again, but it's not the point. Police will be round later sometime. Theiving rat bags :mad:

Cheers Zippy, but I dare not buy the gift vouchers incase they wont to the price match, and I would be stuck with them, good idea though.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I agree, she must also think we are as thick as 2 short planks to tell lies that are so easy to find out. She still believes I phoned the school and that she will have to speak to her year head about what she said about the teacher. If I had phoned the school before realising what she was up to she would be in worse trouble with me and the school but thankfully I have a good sense of my daughter good and bad bits.
She is on charm offensive now, if she was as polite and cheerful as this even some of the time normally it would be lovely but this is definitely her trying to get the grounding lifted as she wants a friend over.
I know she could be worse, I see worse behaviour everyday but I don't want her to go that way.:rotfl:

Yep, my mate was changing the middle section of exhaust on his car, took the exhaust off, went inside to get the new bit, by time he came back out, the whole exhaust had gone, so he then had to go out and buy the rest.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Thats awlful :mad: Hope the police find them.
I put a message on my local freegle cafe site asking if anyone wanted an old TV aerial we had, had taken down for scrap metal. No replies so I thought perhaps scrap metal is not as valuable as it use to be0 -
Quite a good MSE day starting with getting nearly a fiver off when we filled up at tosco and used the petrol moc I found last week :T
In marks I checked the sale rail and found three sets of twin bra packs in my size - two black/white and one fancy set, were £48 but only £9 in the sale and I used my marks gift card.
Then we had tea and sticky buns in the cafe, used 2 of my coffee vouchers and 60p in real money.
In the little oxfam they mark down prices of things they have had for sale for a couple of months so I got 2 frocks for £4
Then in sainsbobs - free parking as I'd spent over a fiver, the shopping came to just over a tenner so I used £10 of gift vouchers and 4p in money :T
The sun keeps coming and going so I think I am going to give up and admit its still too cold for me to be in a maxi and go and get a jumper back on again“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

If we overcharge on anything at the tills you will be given DTD (double the difference) on the overcharge as it is our policy NATIONALLY with no exception.
HTH:)
Thanks SHG, was my first attempt and was given the different packaging, no sticker on line. Offer to replace with one of the offer ones.....as it was my local I didn't push it0 -

They are a big problem here. There was a police campaign recently here to apparently clamp down on them. Doesn't seem to have done much goodThe thing is that there's that many of them, they all look the same and drive the same type of wagons. So even if any of the neighbours saw them it probably won't help much. It was alot of metal so must have taken them a while to load it up. They'll get a gob full from me if they knock on my door again!
