good evening all wanted to thank everyone for the help with my dd2 tax she phoned when she got home and got no where:mad: was told they had investigated her problem and she is paying the correct tax..
she asked me to try and pretend i was her so i rang got a young lad got same answer we then had the following conversation..
me the elite says your wrong
    him, who are the elite
me, my mums internet group (pretending to be dd2 )
him, ha ha you mean a mums forum
me, no they are a secret internet group that discovers errors in computer programs on the internet
him wow do they fix them then
me, yes eventually the errors get fixed
him, wow never heard of that look hold the line i will go and recheck for them.
him, sorry to have kept you but they are right you know we have made an error i have altered your tax code and what you have paid this year will go in next pay packet and a checque for £1355 is being sent to you.
dd2 and ds3 were in fits a laughter but when i told her she was getting her money she was :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

And I too feel I have to comment on this
Update on the MIL: told you it's a family of hypochondriacs :D

Still, a stroke is a stroke, minor or not. Wife reports that my MIL is doing well and can be home by Tuesday, but sounds as if she now realises MIL will be dead within 2 years (I've seen the deterioration in recent years & it's pretty obvious she's now officially a coffin dodger, I think these oldies just decide they're fed up with life in old age in a lot of cases and they do indeed decide to die).

What it means is that when we go out Weds, I can take the kids to see her at her home as opposed to the hospital, which is obviously preferable.

Question for the gels: my MIL absolutely dotes on & dearly loves our 3 kids (her grandkids). Clearly she's unwell & her time on this pleasant planet is limited. Taking the kids to see her will be about 2.5 hours there & back plus the bit in the middle.

How many times should I take the kids to see her in the period Thursday 23 May - Friday 31 May? My wife arrives Friday 31 May night so can jolly well take them at the weekend :D

Selfish me says once is enough but the fact I'm asking you gels means I know I'm just another stupid selfish bloke so what is reasonable? :o
i am sorry but i cannot keep quiet any longer on this one, i honestly cannot believe you are asking such a stupid yet very personal and sensitive question like this!
You clearly know that this lady is unwell and only has a limited time to live yet you feel the need to "ask the audience" on when and how often you should take your children whom she adores and dotes on to see her.
Personally,i think yes you are being selfish and i think it is the least you can do.
I shudder at the thought of myself being diagnosed with a life threatening illness and one of my kids even thinking it, let alone asking on an open forum as to when and how often they shoud bring my grandchildren to see me.

Thank you, this really upset me so much earlier that I could not reply. And I'm not overly sensitive either.

Thank you Classy_Chick06 and HopePray for posting as I have been increasingly uncomfortable about your recent posts squilliondollarbaby, and this latest one really upset me :(:( You seem to be trivialising the illness of your MiL, dismissing her 'as she is 80', and the use of the term 'coffin dodger' is highly offensive to me, and I am sure others, who have recently lost those close to us

I am particularly distressed because the way you have portrayed this situation goes totally against the grain of this caring, sharing thread and all it stands for :(:(. This has certainly kept me from posting for the last day or two, which upsets me too :(

Anyway, night night Elite ......... bye for now
