Just catching up from earlier in the day after my nap, whoopsies and tea. Those lobelia I told you about were still there at whoopsies but are now in a critical condition in my intensive care unit 30p/tray but not sure how many will survive:)

Picked a few up this morning that were wet and dirty so put them in the sink for a wash when I got home. Just like new now with all the creases gone too :D

I never get margarine I don't prefer, even if there's a coupon. My shopping includes value items whose taste I like (I draw the line short of value pork sausages though - they just look horrid to me!). Sometimes I actually prefer the taste of the value items. Or they aren't 'less good' to me. Really I think a lot of it is about marketing and the businesses telling us to believe the higher priced products are better, whereas in fact read (or I'm sure you have read) the downshift challenge pages on this website. The blind taste tests that reveal people sometimes choose the value item, unaware it is that. The decision as to whether something is "finest" being made by the person selling it - why do I have to accept their word? In my view, it's often a label applied by sellers to get their buyers to pay them more. I suspect some of the value products are made in the very same factories as the "brands".

And the horsemeat scandal perhaps also tells us about consumers' perception of brands. It wasn't just Tesco Value and Asda Smartprice that got caught up but at least one Bird's Eye product too. I had someone incredulous that Bird's Eye produce could ever get caught up after the scandal had already broken for a while. Marketers and companies do all they can to differentiate their products in the eyes of their consumers. A cynic might say in fact they're all the same and often made in the same places by the same companies. I never understand those who buy expensive cosmetics at over £50. The health and beauty sector is big business. The brand image is worth money and it is the value consumers attribute - and are willing to pay for - the brands. The general public does trust brands and is willing to pay hard money for them, whether or not the general public admits that it is or isn't.

On occasion I will buy things I do not need - almost always if I am in effect being paid to take them!

[Anyroad, a bit heavy for 10 o'clock at night - I think I'll go and lie down in a dark room for a short while!]

I think you've misunderstood me. I just meant that when you're cooking from scratch if you use cheaper ingredients you can often taste it. And when you're buying it fresh- herbs/meat/veg....this can add up to a hefty shop.

I'm just as likely to chuck some own brand biscuits in the trolley as Mcvities. It's all the same to me. But when we're talking recipes, often specific ingredients are needed and you really can taste the difference.

To be honest, even I was shocked at the extent of it :o this particular obsession goes back a long way, and before my circumstances changed I wasn't even MSE about it:eek: Im talking....hiding things in the car until everyone was in bed :o accosting the postie before he got to the door :o.....Im not cured, by a long way. But thanks to having to watch the pennies and buying a monster wine rack.....Im buying less of THAT stuff and my obsession has moved to wine. Which is containable :rotfl::rotfl: once the rack is full, my need to fill it subsides. :o

    Is'nt that a sort of OCD? :p:D

Sounds like your mum is a real tough cookie, glad to hear everything went so well x

I did manage to get myself better enough to see her on Sunday night before her op on Monday, thanks goodness.
She is so good natured about it all, never been in hospital before apart from childbirth and no illnesses till her heart gave out.
    Truly blessed.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

    Hi guys,

just wondering if someone could tell me - does the Asda APG site let you know if you try to claim more APG coupons than the allowed amount (ten, I think?). I've lost track of how many I've entered and don't want to embarrass myself in store if the coupon won't scan or something:o

    thanks!

I don't know if anyone's already answered this, but at least you'll now have my own take anyway:eek:.

You'll actually better off if you've already made 10 claims and then submit another, than you are if you've made fewer than 10 claims but the one you're about to submit brings you over the £100 limit.

If you reach the limit, your final voucher is capped (a situation I've never had). Whereas if you claim an 11th APG in the calendar month (it will let you enter as many receipts as you like and the ones that don't give an APG voucher don't count towards their 10 receipts amount, it's the entry of the name/address details to claim that triggers the total number of claims - and possibly cookies when generating the voucher too?), if you claim an 11th APG in the calendar month, it will say you've made 10 claims come back next month. The receipt can then be entered the next calendar month (presumably if still within the 28 days from the shopping date - not sure - it may allow you to exceed that?) and it will produce the voucher for the full amount. So if you put an 11th APG in, not to worry too much as you can get the amount back, albeit with a delay (and possibly(?) subject to the 1st of the next month, or whatever day you enter it on, not being more than 28 days from the shopping date on the receipt, the date the shop was done). Different rules may apply to claims in respect of online shopping.

As for expiry dates of coupons, it will go from the date the voucher is first generated - it won't let you do this if it's your 11th voucher, it'll make you come back next month and the 28 days on the validity of the APG voucher itself will then start from the date you first produce the voucher, after entering your name and address which it will (next calendar month) then let you do.
The calendar month begins on the 1st day of the month and ends on the last.
