Virgin Media - Is the following a legitimate reason to end my contract early?

Hi All,

I am six months into an 18 month contract with Virgin Media. I have TV, phone and broadband with VM.

One of the main reasons that i signed up to VM in the first place was so that i could watch my favourite sport, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) on their ESPN channel.

ESPN is now due to end on 31st July, with the new BT Sport channel taking over ESPN and broadcasting UFC on their channel. BT Sport will not be available to watch on VM (it will be on Sky - hence why I wish to cancel VM and join Sky).

Is this a valid reason for VM to end my contract based on the product description changing; I signed up on the premise that I could watch UFC (by way of ESPN channel) but after 31st July that will no longer be the case.

Thanks,
Mark

    They're still negotiating with VM

tv maybe , but phone and broadband no
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I think the fact that Virgin advertised ESPN as "free" will mean that withdrawing it won't affect your paid-for subscription.
As others have have said, you certainly won't be able to cancel Telephony and broadband using that reason.

As I understand it, the T&C's explicitly state all TV channels are subject to availability and may be altered - this would make any claim of only wanting that single channel an unreasonable argument!

When they lost Sky 1 a few years ago, they were pretty good in letting those that wanted to go depart under a goodwill gesture - but assuming they do add BT, it will cost more (as it does on the Sky platform).
