Those of you who do this every year..... are you only doing it for the offer when the free 2 month one runs out?

I did this last year and my 1yr card doesn't run out until the end of July, so I won't benefit from the free 2 month one but the offer for the year one would be handy. Is that what others are doing?

Having a railcard is a fab saving for those who haven't bought one before. I don't drive and my son loves trains so we definitely get our money's worth in terms of savings. :-)
It is only a bargain if you need it!

    Hi

Yes I apply for the free one so that I can get the code to buy a full year one at a reduced price.

I do :j my card runs out end of August. I give the OH the free card to keep in his wallet in case we lose mine or I forget to pick it up on our days out.

We have been to London twice, used it on Holiday in Wales, Southport and Kent to visit places. Been to Manchester Xmas German market and York railway museum. We have more than doubled our money savings and the train prices without it for a family (2 adults, 2 children) are shocking! Plus we have 3 months left to use it in kids holidays. It takes the hassle out of driving in cities and cuts the cost of parking.

Such a shame it's only £10 off this year, but I think I might use Clubcard this year and save the £5 :rotfl:

I will get the free card thanks.

If I then pay for the year card do you get a year after the trial ends or a year including the free trail (ie pay for an extra 10 mths)

I did get the card last year but can't remember and unfortunately have lost it :(

I've got the railcard, but when I ordered tickets online last month we were sent 'groupsave' tickets. If you ravel in a group it might be worth looking at whether the railcard offers any saving.

A good offer but the 'Friends and Family' railcard is valid on more train companies than groupsave, for example Transpenine and Northern Rail. Also the railcard offers 1/3 off adult fares even at off peak prices.

your year's railcard runs from July when you get it at the discounted rate, for one year until next July.
