O/S Daily Friday 10 May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Sorry you are in pain Halight and hope you get your hospital appointment soon, I know what it's like to be sitting waiting for that to arrive. Fingers crossed you can get your computer problems sorted out :(

Still fighting with British Gas. They messed up and admitting it's their error did not take a DD in April, I told them about it and they said I could have 2 taken in May or split the payment over the year, so I chose the split payment. Of course, they went ahead and took 2 DDs this month instead and couldn't have picked a worse month to do it

Ebay sales are going ok but it's hard work getting everything ready for the post each night after work and then getting them to the post office the following day. Did manage to sell a book on Amazon too yesterday. It all adds up for the rescue our car fund.

Not much else going on, pasta and ragu sauce for dinner from a batch cook earlier this week.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning Halight, TTFTM and all who cross follow

Halight. Have a look on here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29. The Techie Forums on here and there are a couple of sticky's which may help. It's quite handy when you can have them open on the iPad while sorting a PC. Hope you have got everything backed up.

((Hester)) and for the poor parents & child, hope they can get to the bottom of the cause and resolve it. Terrible to live with that worry for your kids.

We went out last night, stuck to steak and salad, and diet drinks (with a couple of gins in the diet tonic) which is why awake early and avoid alcohol most of the time, even managed a couple of dances, though will have to walk the stiff legs off today:eek: joys of getting older.

Must get the numbers finished today and tackle some ironing (I have to force myself to do ironing).

Bought some cushions and found a single valences sheet when I took some stuff to the cs out here. It has the colours of the suite and curtains, so thought would bring them together. Fancy doing either a pleated or a patchwork type front, will have to have a browse and see if I can find any patterns on the web,

((Hugs)) Molly, Jools, LW, PP and all others under the cosh.

    Take care everyone. DG

    Morning all,

The sky is very dark this morning, looks like we are in for a day of rain, lets hope it brightens up for tomorrow.

Off to work for me today, need to drop dd at work before i go, I need to pop in the shop on the way home, despite spending a huge amount on our food shop I have forgotten one or two things, so will nip in and get those.

Cant remember what is for dinner, will go and check my list. More washing to do tonight.

Jools, how are you today ?

Hester hope today is better for you.

    Have good days all xxx

Good Morning all and another week has flown by already.Nice lunch with Mikey and I enjoyed a chicken wrap instead of a burger at Maccyds. He had a happy meal plus a milkshake plus a Mcflurry then we moved on to Greggs where he had a hot sausage roll before going home to where I had stashed a chocolate milkshake in the fridge and some cookies .So by mid afternoon he was one very full little boy but extremely happy :):):) as its very rare he gets to pick and choose what he has for lunch but as it was his 'treat' day it really didn't cost very much at all:):)I got all my shopping at the new Morrisons in Sittingbourne and was very pleased as it had only come to just over £16 odd and that was everything.I think I may carry on shopping there as it seems to be fresh and very clean and plenty of parking and best of all room to walk around I hate it in the supermarkets when you have to negotiate around umpteen cages where the staff are filling up shelves I know it has to be restocked but at times there is little room to move at all.I use a stick to walk with so that plus my trolley it can be a bit of a squeeze at times.I have totally given up on my local Tesco's anyway as its just become far too expensive for some of their stuff..
Day's I'm not keen on is a Saturday it seems to be just so loong at times and the t.v. is awful in the evening Last Saturday my friend phoned as her OH is away in the US and we went off to the cinema in the af followed by a coffee and cake afterwards at Bluewater I have a cinema exhibitors ticket so I only have to buy one ticket and we share the cost so its a fairly cheap afternoon for us both which was great
Today I should have been going to history club by youngest DD has the dentist this afternoon so I said I'd go with her .Bless her she is 43 had five children is five foot eight and afraid of nothing but the thought of the dentist reduces her to jelly :):):)
This morning I am baking some biscuits for her boss as bless him he came home from his holiday in Portugal bearing gifts not only for my DD but a bottle of plonk for her old Mum as well. He's a lovely chap and knows that he can rely on DD to run the business when he's not around. They get on very well together and she worked for him several years ago when they were both at another company. When he knew she had been made redundant in January he couldn't wait to get her to his company to work with him.
She has this week end off as she has worked for the past 4 weekends in a row so I know she is looking forward to a bit of a break
Right time I got a wriggle on and had some breakfast shower and a cuppa as I have half an hour to be ready and out the house to Dds for the school run.Stayed on for dinner last night at Dds as it was one of the boys parents nights so I cooked dinner while Mum and Dad saw the teachers together Apparently Jack (13) is doing well and they are pleased with him, apart from the fact that when in geography he will keep singing :):):)His teacher said his voice is good but he'd rather he saved it for drama:):):) I made his day yesterday as well as I treated him and Henry to a bottle of fizzy pop that they don't normally have in the house (naughty Grandma:):)) but a little naughtiness won't hurt now and again :):):)
Cheers chums have a good 'un

    Morning all!

halight how long has it been since you last spoke to anyone? I'd be chasing it up again.

ttftm coping with other people's incompetence is so aggravating!

Friday off work today, this is unheard of. I wanted to do the herb garden today but it's still windy. I'm not that keen a gardener. I'm going to do the food shop and potter about today. Food shop should be cheap ish. I have freezer full of meat and veg, but I used lots of spices last week and finished off quite a few jars.

I've got to take DS1 to the next big town after school. He wants to buy something. DS2 is moaning because he had to go too. DS1 never asks for much and is such a good lad, I can't refuse.

    Good Morning all,

Very overcast here, looks like day of rain and wind.

We are feeling zombie like, didn't get to bed until after midnight after picking dd16 up from prom then up again just before 5. Repeat performance tonight for dd18 but will be even later as we have to pick her up from the venue in town rather than back at school.

Quick tidy round needed today as dd and friends are coming here to get ready later. Lots of giggling, no doubt:rotfl:

Managed an hour at the allotment yesterday but the wind was ferocious and I decided I was safer catching up on jobs at home.

Busy weekend ahead, hoping for the odd spell of sunshine.

Take care all and have the best day you can

I phoned the Hospital. They said no date yet.

    good morning everyone
weather grey overcast today,it started to change yesterday afternoon, but still not enough rain to give garden a good watering.
My 5 diet diet going well, its steak for hubby(its allowed on this Atkin type diet) and omlette/salad for me tonight.Diet says no tea or coffee, just herb teas for 5 days, which is great as lv got loads of freebie herb teas l need to use up.l miss my baking but if this diet works and l lose some weight off my tummy l will continue doing it weekdays and have little baking treats
    weekends.
lv put £20 into holiday fund for the money lm saving on food on this diet,l guess it was more but l havent yet worked the prices out yet. The steak for hubby l managed to get reduced which was a good saving. He hasnt had steak for 12 months lol, he'll be over the moon.
l only managed to do 20 comps yesterday for few diff things that would be nice for my holiday..ipad,earphones,suncream, designer wardrobe of clothes for him and her, swimsuit, shoes, bags, jewleray. Would be overthe moon if l won even just one of those things.lm not worried if l dont, l have a fantastic charity shop near me where l buy all my clothes from anyway, even for holidays.its in a very rich area & loads of the clothes donated are brand new .Latest l got was my leather black designer bag, brand new .
Will enter loads more comps this afternoon. We hope to go Sept to Dominica,so plenty of time to save and diet.Found a 10 min tummy exercise plan on youtube so will start that today.

Yesterday was living room clean day but Friday is always pamper day:j so just had shower with deep hair condition & face pack on and just about to do pedicure.l usually make my own hm beauty treatments but lv go many freebie samples to use up.Then will do any handwashing thats needed which l always do on Fridays, which will soften my cuticules really well for me to do my manicure.Def no gardening on Fridays.
hope you all have a good day.(((( hugs )))) to those that need them :)
