Sorry if this is on the wrong board but,
Can anyone out there tell me what discount you should expect from a main Peugeot dealer on a new 207 diesel 5 door hatch.
Mother in law has her eyes on one.......a 1.4 hdi s, no bells or whistles, but she's too far away for us to haggle for her ..........and she won't haggle (76 year old ) .
Or if you can recommend anywhere else to buy, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks
:confused::confused:
Any tips on haggling a better discount if buying new with no part exchange ?

A friend of mine had this car, random things kept going wrong.
Try to find any "reviews" or surveys on the car before you buy, from what I heard peugeot are not the most reliable of brands and certainly from my friends experience that seems to be true, ofcourse he could of just been unlucky but worth researching before making a big purchase.

I've just had a quote from my local Vauxhall dealer for the diesel corsa design, list price £13,300, online was £10,800 without metallic paint. I have been to all dealers around and done my online homework, he has just offered me £11,363 with paint , full tank and car mats, also 0% finance. Didn't think I did too bad for a girl who has never haggled before. You should play one garage against another.

when i bought my brand new 206 back in 2001, i got about 8% off & extras, i went to several dealers, got their best price and showed each dealer the others offers. but personally i wouldnt buy another peugeot again - things keep going wrong, engine kept cutting out.

Best saving of all is don't bother. I have a 307 & its nothing but a pile of junk. Constantly in garage for repair. Read all the reviews online & see what I mean, theres even one https://www.crushmy307.co.uk which really tells it all. I hope this helps.

From one of the many very disatisfied Peugeot owners

Thanks to all who replied to my plea.
She's off to bargain with her local dealer armed with all this info and internet prices.
I also found........ https://www.drivethedeal.co.uk, which looks very similar to dealdrivers......but cheaper again.
I have to say, ( although I'm probably tempting fate ), that we've had a Peugeot 306 diesel that's done 157,000 miles and has been great.
Usual things like tyres, discs, breakpads, etc, which apply to all cars, plenty of dents and bumps over the years, but it still starts on the button .
Maybe I'm used to a rubbish car, but I find it much more comfortable than our Toyota Yaris which gets praise from every direction.
They'll probably both blow up now, I'll keep my fingers crossed.....like my eyes !!
    Thanks all !

I have a diesel 306 (2001) and I've had no problems with the HDI engine what so ever. I think petrols are a different matter though!
