in Water bills
I live in a student house and there are 6 of us on the water bill. We have gave one of our housemates the money for the water bill but we have found out that he might not be paying it and going to be leaving without 3 months of the water being paid! We have of course talked about it with him, but he is one of the biggest liars going!
So if worst come to the worst, and he leaves the house without paying the last 3 months of our water, what could happen in reality?
When singing up, I think they have spelt half of our names wrong and they asked for no contact details so really, what could happen? I am really worried it will effect our credit score etc.
Frustrating thing, we are worrying about this but in fact we have paid our share!
Thank you

If it is not paid the company will pass the debt to a debt collection company.(DCA)
The important point for you all to note is that you are all 'Jointly and Severally Liable'.
That means the DCA can(and will) pursue anyone of you individually for the whole debt. They are not the slightest bit interested in third party disputes i.e. who paid what to whom!
There is a strong possibility that it could have an adverse affect on your credit record.
If it hasn't been paid, I suggest the rest of you pay it and take the other person to the small claims court.0 -
As above, there are no equal shares-you are all jointly and severally liable. A mispelled name does not remove your liability. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
