BT total braod band package

just had a very wierd call from BT. they have offered me an upgrade. i told them im allready on option 3 and was interested to hear of an upgrade if i was on the highest i can get anyway.
well what the offer was they would send me a new home hub , broadband phone etc etc if i just agreed to a new 12 or 18 month contract.
i queried why the new gear when i allready have it. he said i can do anything i want with the gear its just a new contract which is 2 pounds cheaper per month. so i agreed due to the saving of 2 pounds per month. what i can understand is that ive only been on option 3 for 4 months anyway. think they may have made a mistake with how long i had on my contract because mid way through my previous contract i upgraded to option 3. wondering if anyone else has had this offer and is there some catch that im not aware of?

Garry, make sure that you are not going from your current contract which may be 12 month on to this new contract which may be 18 month.
If that's the case then it would explain the saving as the longer you sign up for the cheaper the monthly cost becomes.

As for doing what ever you want with the duplicated equipment just look at ebay it goes for next to nothing!

I am on an old Option 3 wired hub and also had a call offering the BT Home hub for £2 less per month. When I said I didn't have any wireless equipment and didn't see a need for any in the future he said there was no need to use it and I would still get the saving.

The following day I looked on the BT website and found that they have an Option 1 which has very similar download speeds and size but is for a wired connection at £18 per month which is a saving of £7 per month (12% of my monthly Direct Debit). It appears that as technology moves on what was originally the top option 3 is now the bottom option 1, good enough for my needs. I rang them up and changed.

If you use wireless take the discount otherwise look at changing option to wired.
