Thinking of Electric Car

You will also need to factor in the cost of car hire or bus/train fares if you need to go anywhere more than 50 miles away. Not cheap, especially if are not travelling alone.0

Will it get 60 miles on a cold winter's day?0

I also doubt you will make a 60 mile journey on one charge. In ideal conditions then yes.
But a bit colder, rain or a bit more traffic and you will be left stranded. What if you need to go somewhere on the way home thats 10 miles out of your way?
If your journey was less than 10 miles then it maybe worth a risk. But its so costly and so many drawbacks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
the hyundai jazz is a hybrid car and runs on petrol and electric
it gets about 60 miles per gallon and only costs £10-£20 per year road tax
while running on petrol it charges the electric battery and then you can switch the power source0 -
Thanks for pointing out how a hybrid works- they've only been about since 1997.0

without trying to sound like Mr Doom and Gloom, but what happens if you lose your job in 6 months time? the Nissan will have depreciated more than you will have paid off the loan, and Tesco will now be wanting £300 a month off you irrelevant of your situation.
Why not look for an economical car for less money, maybe save more to your £3k and maybe pick something up for £5k. Im sure you could pick up a fairly young Fabia/Fiesta/Polo type car with a good diesel engine for £5k, may even find something like that for £3k!0 -

Honda make the Jazz.
That combined fuel economy can be beaten by conventional cars so certainly on a cost basis the hybrid doesn't add up.0 -

Can it?
What other petrol auto can match it?I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. TNT used to operate an electric 7.5 ton truck round my area, at 18 months old and less than 30k on the clock it needed new batteries. Don't think I'd be considering an electric car based on the op's daily mileage.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
