Can I issue a chargback for this?

Yep I don't know what I'm talking about. That's why it says newbe alert underneath my name. So would there be any risk to my credit rating or anything if I was to simply apply for a chargeback, put the point bellow across and see what happens?
I still think that the average consumer should not be expected to know how expedia/the airline's internal processes work. This is why they should have told me when to call them back by (as I said an expedia rep confirmed that I should have been told this.)
Joe
No harm at all in trying, but be aware of your obligations in this, which you have failed on.0 -
You paid by debit card? The bank will tell you you need to contact the Merchant, they will not be involved so your projected scenarios are irrelevant.
As others have said, IF they allowed a date change, this would only be because the airline permitted it (Icelandair, I assume?). The change of travel date would then update the existing valid ticket with the the new travel date. After the flight time, the ticket is 'spent' and has no value.
If they are not prepared to make a goodwill gesture - then the loss is yours, less the tax and fees.0 -
There is no chargeback right which covers this scenario. You paid for a flight, it was available, it wasn't cancelled as you told the airline you wanted to reschedule, as far as the airline are concerned, you failed to turn up for the flight.0

My point is that we made it explicitly clear that we would not be flying and the expedia representitive should have told us that we had to callback within a certain timeframe, if he had told us this then we would have succesfully rescheduled the flights.
Joe
It really is common sense, unless you cancel or re-schedule before the departure of the original flight you're just a no-show.
You'll get nowhere, either in court or with a charge back for missing a flight due to your own disinclination to travel. A charge back may have been possible if they failed to provide the service for you, but not if you chose not to use it.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Give me strength oh lord!
I'd best leave it at that or might become PPR........0 -

.
If your debit card has the Visa logo on. Then you have the same chargeback rights as a credit card.
Fact is in this case the OP does not have any chargeback right.
This is spot on.meer53
