Mobile/Wi-fi Internet for Laptop

Hi i'm selling up and so my home internet is going.
I have 1.2gb on my mobile contract data plan but would like to keep this only for emergencies and obviously for my phone. I like to be prepared in case one network goes down as well thats why i am looking for another network option.
I have heard of samba, ovivio, giffgaff etc i would prefer a WIFI device rather than a dongle, due to where the usb ports are situated on my laptop. in all i will have three devices, iphone, Samsung S3 and my laptop that i want to connect to it.
I note that ovivio would need a dongle/wifi that is obviously unlocked but also the user would need access to the data settings to configure these.
Please note that i am currently in UK, though i may be going abroad at some point so this needs to be factored into my final choice!
I'm not that techie so please be easy with me.
Any suggestions

looking for another network option.
You haven't told us which network you are on now.
Anyway...if you want one already unlocked, there is this one for £43.97.
Read the reviews.
You can also buy the same thing from Tesco for £40. Possibly locked.
Otherwise you can get one from Three on a one month contract via a cashback website and cancel immediately so that the contract only runs for one month. Include the cashback and you make a saving, but then you have to unlock it too. So a fair bit of faffing around.
Perhaps other suggestions may appear.0 -
i'm currently on orange for my mobile. so if i go abroad with one of these it will work with ANY network provider in those countries?
i dont have a cashback account i beleive its not free to do this, i dont buy that much online to be honest but i'll look at what you have suggested. My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

Yes, as long as you have a suitable data SIM and profile information.
You don't need to pay for a Cashback account. Both Quidco and TopCashback are free to utilise.
The Three model for £40 from Tesco is here
Unlocking for £1 here
With this option you get 1GB to use for a month from whenever you decide to activate the SIM within.
You can unlock it immediately and test it with another SIM and profile. So slightly cheaper than buying it unlocked, especially as it comes with that data SIM and allowance.
You can discard the SIM after using it and replace it with one of these or an Ovivo SIM if you choose.0 -
Ive just got rid of my mi-fi and replaced it with a phone and unlimited internet/tethering from three.
So impressed - i am sacking the landline when my contracts up.0 -

That is £25 per month on a one month contract and you'll still need a suitable phone to which you can tether.
If it suits...0 -

The Amazon link above in post #2 has the answers.0 -
Also in one of the other threads, I have linked to the T-Mobile model for £29.99.
Spec here:Operating frequency(3G)
Operating frequency(2G)
HSPA+/HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS 2100/900MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So if you can't get 3G, you'll at least have access to EDGE.
If you want a 4G model, expect to pay at least three times as much, go through a fair amount of palaver and perhaps have to unlock it yourself anyway.0 -
Slenderkitten, hopefully now you can understand that continually asking about Dual band on thread after thread is nonsense. Four at last count.
The cheapest MiFi works on five separate frequencies. Six if you separate GSM/UTMS.
So Dual Band means nothing. So give that a rest.
As to 4G, are you willing to pay the price? What is your budget?0
