personally I would buy a pack of mixed flower seeds (sometimes described as wild flower or attractive to bees), £1 or so from Wilkos, Home Bargains or the £ shops. A cheap plant food for flowering plants (Rose food or Tomato food have the right nutrition for flowering plants). I pay £1.99 for a brand called Doff in Home Bargains.

Bobs your uncle for a couple of quid, same results as the expensive stuff.

Once they're up and in flower don't forget to post a pic for us !

even better. I've noticed in my garden that the more I pay for a plant/seeds, the more likely they are to die !

Hi all - - I just wanted to add that I have tried and loved Flower Magic, the mix was lovely and I still have a lovely display which is changing as new flowers come up. As a note... we are on Money Saving Expert.... this product has a guarantee, so if you are not happy you get your money back. Packs of seeds don't have that so at least using this product you cant lose. Not quite sure why so many people seem down on this company, Miracle-Gro is just a brand name.... buy hey ho, theres my input!

    Enjoy

    Misinformation.

Packs of seeds usually have a printed guarantee, and even where they don't, the company's web site normally does. SoGA also applies.

£10 for some annual seeds, which don't need fertilizer or wasteful packaging, and you wonder why I'm "down" on this idea! :rotfl:

I bought some flower magic and had good but mixed results. The only thing I can put it down to is different soil conditions.

I put it in the border and some in 2 pots that I'd put a small bush in. The pots have compost but the borders are just soil that has been a bit neglected over the years. They both have the same amount of sun but the pots have very different flowers to the border. They are very pretty so I'm not complaining and I did get a few quid off on an offer so kind of money saving :o

On the up side, they have attracted loads of bees and butterflies and other buzzy things too. Result :T
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.
  • On one of the clearance sections at my local Tesco last night they had Flower Magic packs of blue/white and pink/white reduced to £4. So if anyone did want to try this might be worth checking their local Tesco.

I have used the Lawn/Grass Magic stuff or similar - it was mixed with coir anyway - and that worked well for me.

I have got more than enough flower seeds to use up already though.:o

Did it have a sell by date?

Sorry for delay in reply but have now been back in store. They still had several big packs and I looked all over but could not see a "Use by Date" on the packs. I assume that is what you meant.
