miracle gro flower magic

Hi...

Has anyone used miracle gro flower magic? If so what were your thoughts and would you recommend it?

I'm not green fingered at all and only have a smallish area to cover once I've cleared the weeds :o and with a newborn baby now here I don't really have a lot of time to be planting different flowers so was thinking this may be a good option.

Any thing you have to say good or bad about the product I'd like to here as don't want to waste the money if its not worth it.

Thanks in advance for any replies. x

Hi, yes anything like that will help as a feed. It doesn't have to be miracle grow (remember, no need to pay for the brand named ones :money: ;) )

The most important thing is to read the instructions and use exactly as stated (with attention to the dilution rates) and as often as stated (likely to be every two weeks)

    :)

Just a thought, this is all assuming you are aiming to put the stuff on newly planted flowers/bedding type plants. The sort you see in parks etc.
On the other hand, if after you have cleared your weeds, no need to be to perfect there either, what with the new baby, you only have shrubs (big bushes which are there all year round) then these no need to use anything. HTH

I think the OP was talking about a new product which contains flower seeds and feed, which you simply sprinkle over the area where you want flowers

I've seen these in a few garden centres and Wilkos have then for £10 at the moment. They seem like a good idea however I've not tried them myself so can't give any advice I'm afraid.

Tried one myself, honestly thus far only have a sporadic few seedlings (which at this stage could be weeds tbh) appear, though the weathers' been up and down a lot, kinda expected more after a month though, no flowers yet.

Basically, this is a mix of annuals, some short-life granular fertilizer and coir to pad it out, all stuffed into a bottle.

There is nothing 'magic' about it, nor has there ever been a miracle as the result of anyone using Miracle Gro, which is simply a chemical plant food.

I am stating what the pack contains. People are intelligent enough to draw their own conclusions. :)

personally I would buy a pack of mixed flower seeds (sometimes described as wild flower or attractive to bees), £1 or so from Wilkos, Home Bargains or the £ shops. A cheap plant food for flowering plants (Rose food or Tomato food have the right nutrition for flowering plants). I pay £1.99 for a brand called Doff in Home Bargains.

Bobs your uncle for a couple of quid, same results as the expensive stuff.

Once they're up and in flower don't forget to post a pic for us !

Arrh, I see, my mistake, sorry OP.

Now I've looked at the link, well, No I wouldn't spend £10 on that, but its up to you of course. But if your asking, then no, don't waste your money.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago for my border. Planted the first lot then, and then about 3 weeks ago I re-did it as nothing had really come up, but I thought it could have been that last frost. Now? Still nothing, well not much at least. A small number of seedlings (as PP said, could be weeds) but nothing at all like the blanket of seedlings I was promised. I even bought nemaslug and then replanted 5 days afterwards in case it was the slugs getting the seedlings, but no, just nothing growing. I don't imagine I'll be buying it again unless something miraculous happens. I've done better with my pound shop roses bought last year. They're currently over 6 foot high and have about 80 rosebuds on! (they're climbers though!)

Saw in £ Stretcher a "shake and rake" flower mix, about £2 for what seems like fair size box, different colours available . Probably worth trying at that price, if anyone wants to give it a go.

Not tried the Miracle gro stuff, but I think the advice on a box of mixed annual seeds is good.

I got a box from Lidl when on offer, sowed [just sprinkled sparsely & lightly hoed in] about 3 weeks back, most are now up, only seedlings at this stage of course, but seems a good buy

I have seen pre-sown mats, but these seem expensive at around a tenner, so not tried them either

Thank you everyone for your replies!!! Sorry I haven't responded sooner but didn't notice until today the notifications went into junk mail instead of normal....all other thread replies went in to the normal inbox.

I think I'll steer clear of it and try some of the other options mentioned....due to the beautiful weather I have not even begun to de-weed the garden yet....fingers crossed for some dry days soon. :)
