vet costs

There are good and generous vets out there, is my point, although I appreciate I've waffled a bit in getting to it!Even if I did think the charge was excessive, I would get them treated and worry about the cost afterwards
To quote you both at the same time, their are good vets out there, but also some that think about money over an animal's welfare.
Having lost my job fairly recently, I contacted my vets practice that i've been too for many years and paid alot of money too, without fail, on the day - even minutes after i've had one of my pets put to sleep, and I asked them should it come up that a vets fee was over what I could afford on the day (Talking 3 figures plus), was their an installment option.
The reply was simple - No, if you can't pay, treatment will not be offered.
Obviously my custom has meant little over the years. They know I am a good pet 'owner' and take them when they need to go, so I had hoped for a little 'help' over a short term period IF i needed it.
As another poster mentioned, if you can't afford pets, don't take any on. Sadly, when my old girl passes on which in reality will be sooner rather than later, I won't take any more on until my finances improve, but my cat is nearly 19 and have had her since 2 months old and she will be with me until she dies.
The vet practice have treated my cats well, I just wish they'd take our past payment history into account - hopefully it won't come down to desperate measures.
All the best smudger, I know what it's like to lose our furry friends0 -
We have been charged ridiculous amounts of money at Medivet. Again these vets charge more when you are vulnerable and have little option. If anybody knows of a decent vet who charges reasonably and doesn't rip off vulnerable people in the Watford area please let me know.0

The problem is that they are effectively giving credit away for circumstances like this and whilst you may pay up on time every time the vets decided that they do not want the hassle of chasing a debt, costing more money chasing non payers etc etc.
Might seem cold and uncaring but they are a business and practicalities need to be applied.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

I remember Medivet in Watford being featured on a TV programme a while back for mistreating animals and overcharging. I don't know of any others in the area as I don't live there, but I wouldn't take any of my animals to them having seen the footage.Spend less now, work less later.0
