Focus 1.4 1.6 1.8

We own a 1.6 Focus and a 1.4 Fiesta, the fiesta is a LOT newer but I nearly always jump into the focus ( much better drive) ..............haven't a clue about the running costs
My mother had a 1.8 Focus (2000), and we had a 1.4 Peugeot 206 (2002), drove them about 400 miles, filled up, and the Focus used £6 more fuel that day. They were both filled to the brim before we left.
1.4 Fiesta would be about the same as the 206, I'd have thought, so therein lies your answer.
If you're doing a lot of city driving, it may be a bit different, however, and this is where I wish I'd ordered the 2.2d over the 3.0 diesel I have!

A couple of important points: how many miles are you doing? if very low miles, different fuel costs will be irrelevant.
At that price, condition will far more important, a potential £10 pm saving on fuel will be insignificant compared to the cost of any repairs needed.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Our 13 year old Focus 1.8 ranges from 25mpg (5-7 mile journeys, lots of roundabouts and lights, rush hour traffic, left long enough to go cold at the end of each run), up to about 40mpg on long motorway runs. I once got close to 45mpg on a good long motorway trip by sticking to 60 and paying very close attention to what was coming up - only touched the brakes to come to a stop at the end of the journey!
Owned it nearly two years and it's been so little trouble. Total cost of ownership, and that means everything except fuel, works out at about £100/month. Can't get much cheaper than that :-)0 -
just sold my 1.6 petrol focus on an 04 and got a 1.8 tdci (diesel) also on an 04 im getting about 460 miles to the tank the petrol was doing around the 300 mark,0

i have a focus 2002 1.4. driving in london would give me around 28mpg.. Well thats what my satnav is showing anyway. In motorways or a-roads, i normally get 48mpg. Drawback of the 1.4 is that its very slow to accelerate and revs is quite high on 70mph.0

Can anyone help me on this? I went to see today seemed ok, but is really cheap for age, does have a dent on one side (think thats why cheap).
I might take a gamble on it.

Enough of a dent for an insurance company to write it off.
Seems to be one of those dealers where a google search finds different phone numbers and a throw away hotmail email address.
Be prepared for them to vanish ones the money hits their pockets.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
