Unlimited Text - alternative to giffgaff

Hello

My daughter's currently on giffgaff (as I am) on the £5 a month unlimited text goody bag. Unfortunately, giffgaff are discontinuing this £5 option very soon and I wondered if anyone could recommend an alternative.

She currently sends between 400 and 800 texts a month, doesn't use data or minutes (as yet!) as she uses wifi and skype only when at home. The £5 hokey cokey only offers 300 texts and the next option is £7.50 a month for unlimited texts, 200 minutes and 250mb, which she doesn't need and is a £2.50 a month extra to what I'm currently paying for her.

Thanks in advance.

You don't happen to be a Virgin Media customer do you? They offer unlimited texts and 100 mins for £5 a month on a 30 day rolling contract.

If you're not a Virgin Media customer then for £7 a month you can get 150 mins unlimited text 500mb data on their network.

No, unfortunately, we're not a Virgin Media customer, so we'd have to pay £7.50 which is still £2.50 more than I'm currently paying - oh dear....

If you pick up a free three sim card on pay as you go they do a text bundle that is £5 and you get 3000 texts :-)

Tesco Mobile do a bolt on 5000 texts for £5 http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/bundles.aspx

Combine it with the http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/call-charges-payg-litetariff.aspx tariff to avoid topping up for calls each month you dont use.

Can she get her friends and family onto Whatsapp and use instant messaging instead of texting?

This could end up costing £0 per month.

If she uses wifi, the cost of the data consumed by whatsapp is negligible.

If she does instant messaging on the move, she could move to Ovivo (free allowance of calls 150 minutes, 200 texts and 400mb each month) and use whatsapp most of the time and the free texts occasionally?
