If you use Google checkout using E-Buyer beware I have tried 3 different credit cards and two friends of mine a couple of cards each. On all but one occassion the orders have been placed by Google and then Cancelled by them. On one transaction they actually took the money and then refunded it. On another after an email Google wrote back asking for a photocopy of BOTH sides of my credit card. A copy of the front of my driving licence and a copy of my credi card statement... THEY JEST who would be daft enough to do that!!!!
The main problem is that on NOT one occassion did they inform anyone that the order had been cancelled by them. Had I not contacted E-Buyer on each occassion by phone then I would be totally unaware of the cancellations.
E-buyer staff seem to be totally fed up with the Google checkout system and on all but one occassion (to busy to check!) stated that they would accept my credit cards (as they have in the past) and have dispatched the goods but no £10 discount.

    So beware.

    Description

The Satellite L30 from Toshiba offers exceptional value. Equipped with a 15.4" Widescreen display, DVD SuperMulti drive and Intel processor, the Satellite L30 series is equipped for most modern day computing needs. Built in WiFi wireless technology, modem, and Ethernet port provides wide range of connection options to the internet or home network. + currently comes with a Free Extra 512Mb Ram please note this extra memory is included in the box, it simply needs inserting under the keyboard, a 2 minute operation.

I Can't believe they put the price up already, well here is another site to check out, and it is £295 plus delivery but there is only 512 memory(extra 512 memory is only about £16 anyway and easy to fit) - also they are giving an extra 2 years warranty away(subject to availability), with every Toshiba laptop, think i will have to give them a call first and make sure it comes with the extra warranty.
    Check it out here.

Thats a good price - depending on delivery... they seem to be "out of stock" on their site of the 3 year warentee though - how can you go out of stock of a warentee?

I was under the impression that P4 processors (desktop) in a laptop is generally a bad idea due to the heat produced and power demands. Also £1000 worth of laptop 2 years ago is about the same performance as £500ish laptops these days.

I hear that, however I am only the poor fool who bought it, not the total idiot who designed it!

    >I had a Fujitsu Siemens, in the space of ten months I actually had use of it >for about 4. It broke down so many times it was untrue. The motherboard >failed within 8 weeks and that was just the start.

I am sorry to hear that you had similar problems to me. I bought mine six months before I needed and about 5 months before I even used it (for economic reasons), so by the time I realised how appalling it was (and still is), I was in America and half way through the warranty period.

However, on the positive side, Fujitsu Siemens have made my lifelong boycott list. They couldn't give me another laptop now, this thing has caused me more grief over the past two years that anything has ever caused me before.

  • Yep - price is now at £349.99, so as well as the other offers, it might be worth looking at other avenues. I'm just changing jobs and won't have the luxury of a company laptop, so I'm on the lookout for a new one with basic capabilities.

I'm tempted with the one they are advertising on the TV from PC World, but I'm sure the advert said something about there being no wireless with it although not sure. For £399 and a Lexmark printer thrown in and the comfort of being able to take it back if it goes Pete Tong, this may be a better deal.

    What do you think?
