Alton Towers Hotel or Splash Landings Hotel?

I think you made a good choice! The splash landings was really great with the pool right there. I felt it was better suited to little ones. The AT hotel is great if you can afford to go to one of the themed rooms! To be fair though you probably wont spend much time in the rooms. We did get a lovely welcome pack in the room with some really nice bits for the little ones, wind up penguin and blow up drink holder etc. Hope you have good weather, enjoy!LBM Mar 07  Total debt at LBM £28,003.11 - Feb 12 £5,118.63 :j

Hey all - does any1 know of a code for discount at the hotels for July - I rang up the booking place, and they said this code runs out in June. Cant go in June :-(0

Sorry Jibby I don't know of another code maybe someone else will come along who does.
I have just returned from Splash Landings and we had a great time even with the rain!!! I would def go again in fact I'd go to either hotel as we went through to the AT hotel and had dinner and watched their entertainment. The staff were friendly in both. And out little girl had a ball. Infact we are definately going to book to go again when the next offer is on if there is one.
Thanks to everyone for the code and advice.0 -
Hi, Just to add, we've just come back from AT. We stayed at Splash Landings after using a code from here for a cheap stay. We loved it and the children loved it. Rooms rather like a travel lodge, but with bunks not sofa beds, and in a colourful Caribbean theme - including fab carpet! Lovely toiletries in the room to take home (Imperial Leather, Original Source shampoo etc etc!).
Breakfast was great - buffet style, as much as you like, great to fill up on for your day! Evening meal at Splash Landings was very disappointing. We used the buffet restaurant - we thought it really expensive for the quality of the food. I'd avoid it all together and go out of park for that one. However - there was entertainment over at the Alton Towers hotel which was fab, and both hotels are linked by the walkway over the waterpark, which was amazing.
I wasn't sure the water park would amuse all of us for lots of hours (9 & 7 yr old), however it did. We got in at 10am and children did not want to go at 5pm!! All information about the water park says you can not take your own food in, however contrary to all the information - loads of families had taken their own food in to eat,and no one said anything. Lots of life guards around. Water structure with canons and tipping bucket is lots of fun. Slides are great, including the 3 outside.
All in all a fantastic place to stay. We'd go again and we'd stay in Splash Landings again - except we'd eat out of the hotel for the evening meal. Also staying in the hotel means you can park right near to the monorail, and your hotel card gives you free parking - saving £4 per day. You also get a Priority Pass for 5 rides (Ug Swingers, Corkscrew, Duel, Runaway Mine Train and I think Oblivion - children were too small!), which is worth £7 per ticket. You also get access to Forbidden Valley from 9 am - park doesn't open until 9:30, and general rides start at 10 am. This isn't worth it for families with small children as Forbidden Valley has all the BIG rides - Air, Nemisis, Ripsaw etc, however it does mean you can get into the park early and get to the other side - then slowly work your way back to the start. I reckon if you add up the extras for staying in the hotel (£4 car park then £7 per ticket for the Priority Pass, for us meant we saved £36 ! Even better), and use clubcard points for free entry, or Tesco buy one get one free and its an even better deal!
Sunday seemed really quiet in the park - the most we queued for was 5 minutes to go on the River Rapids. As Euro Disney is 15yrs old this year and has lots of deals AT could be quite quiet this year!
