What deductions are taken from your partner's wages?

From the gross wage only tax ni contributions and 50% of any pension contributions are disregarded.

If only tax and ni are deducted then the figures I gave should be correct if he is working more than 30 hours.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Then my calculation is based on a couple with a dependent child, no tax credits and £283 wages. Speak to Housing Benefits so they can figure out why my figures and their figures are so adrift.

do i legally have to pay 200 per week

First speak to Housing Benefit - if an error has been made ask that it is resolved ASAP due to your rent arrears. Keep your landlord fully informed. Once Housing Benefits have resolved the issue and paid any Housing Benefit that may be due then make a payment arrangement with your landlord. The most important thing is to speak to your landlord. If you do owe the money then you need to make an arrangement to clear the arrears.

Until you speak to your Housing Benefit Department then the arrears are due and payable.

What does your son do? when do you expect the child benefit to stop?
I wonder, as he is no longer in education, they are not including the child premium

Looks like they are treating you as a couple with no dependant child.

If you still get child benefit then you need to speak to Housing Benefit to recalculate your claim as a matter of urgency.

If child benefit has stopped then you are treated as a couple with a non dependant in your household and the £6.30 award is correct.
