Have you got Rapport running, if you have make sure you have got the latest version. I had the same problems you described with firefox and came across this solution purely by accident, as a bonus my desktop is using a lot less memory doing the same tasks as before.

I third the suggestion that Rapport could be causing a problem. I remember a problem with everything freezing although I think it was only Firefox.
Disabled Rapport - no more problems.

Righto - well there was one error that was repaired in firefox on the disk check.

I think I'll remove Rapport (I downloaded it because the Co-op internet banking recommended we have it, but it's not essential) and see how we go....

Once I had uninstalled/installed the updated Rapport everything has been OK.

I know some people don't like Rapport but it is an extra layer of security and I wonder whether a bank may be able to wriggle out of online fraud if you don't have it installed?

Not in my case, I would love them to try ... cRapport doesn't work on Linux/Unix, oh and I also use Windows too but won't let that piece of useless piece of "security software" anywhere near any of my machines. I have a perfectly good security system for banking which is impervious to any attempts to bypass it unless someone sticks a gun at my head or sits next to my router with the ability to decode the https sessions between me and the banks.

    Post some new DDS logs.

Post me a DDS log so we can get an idea of your specs & what's running etc - should take 2-3 minutes.

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:

    Link

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:
    • Double click DDS to run it.
    • Click Start
    • When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.

Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)
