Car sear for baby under 8 months

Options
Going to a wedding in June and thinking of booking a taxi. I was told there is no need for car seat for baby under 3 yrs in a taxi. Surely it cannot be safe if baby sits on my lap. Also baby will be charged extra as it will be 4 adults + baby. Thinking of taking bugaboo with seat adaptors but it will be bulky and inconvenient. Can anybody advice pl? Thanks

Does your car seat fit onto you pram chassis as presumably you'll be taking a pram anyway for nap time? If not, do you have any friends that will lend you a car seat/chassis combo for the day?

    Edit:
Just seen that's what the adaptors do, so yes, I would do that, I wouldn't want to be at a wedding with an 8 month old with nowhere to put it down, even more so if you're there all day.

Some taxi firms will provide a car seat if you request it in advance. You would then need to book your taxi home in advance too of course. Alternatively some small taxi firms will agree to assign you the same driver there and back (again you need to book your taxi home in advance though) and then you take your own car seat and the taxi driver hangs on to it until the homeward journey.

If you are only going to the reception, the other option is to take your own car seat with you and stick it in the cloakroom until you are ready to go home again.

I would use my own as they would need somewhere to sleep anyway
