Help - Fibreoptic advice

Hi all, I hope this makes sense... I am a bit confused what to do!

Basically, I am with plusnet on their adsl package. The package has run out of it's promotion period so the cost is now the standard charges.

Adsl is not and has not been a consistent service for us, so I have looked at fibreoptic. The best deal is only for new customers. I called plusnet and they said they had made a business decision to only offer new customers the deal they have on offer, so if I wanted, I could leave (this was the retentions dept!)

To be honest, I do not mind leaving (unless there is a better solution?) but I am worried about who to go with.... I was ready to switch to EE but then got worried about their customer service. Sky looks great, but v expensive... any opinions anywhere?

Looks like you need to switch possibly to BT. EE a no no for me. Sky can be expensive same as BT.

Consider passing line rental yearly this can lower the cost instead of paying monthly.

on thing to consider on the bt side of things they are if you like sport they are offering for free bt sport for their broadband customers eg 38 prem league games for free and load of rugby etc etc
now i know alot people don't like sport but maybe something worth considering as a thought.

also sky fibre has got some real thruput issues with speed everyone getting about half of actual thruput of actual sync speed it is a network wide issue on some hardware they have installed basically talking between skys gear and bts gear at exchange level and has been going on for past nine months they are trying to roll a fix out but my advice is avoid on 40/10 and 80/20 fttc product!

Not true. It only happens to a minority of customers.

I have been with Sky FTTC for over a year with no problems.

sorry i got it wrong i re phrase just so we are clear its happening to certain customers with certain equipment in exchanges and is a network wide issue you seem to be one of the people with the ok equipment but it is certainly not the minority and for those effected it is a major issue i suggest you read the 38 pages full of different users that realise that they are effected, what in fact has happened most people don't know the difference between sync speed and actual thruput of their line so their will be alot of users that are effected that don't realise they are!
hope i cleared that right up like crystal.
as one person says i'm alright jack that are lots lots more that aren't and if some join up on your say so and then find they are effected you going to help them out I don't think so :rotfl:
