Sim card doesn't work-help?!

Hi

I am getting cut off from 02 on Wed becauase they couldn't do me a good retention deal, so after being screwed over by CPW (another story) I was gonna be left phoneless on Wed-a bit of a problem as i'm going on holiday on Thurs morn and need a mobile just in case my family need to contact me etc.

So, I went round to the local corner shop and bought an 02 sim card to tide me over until I get back and can sort out a decent contract or deal or whatever, but the sim card doesn't work when I put it in my phone. By this I mean it doesn't register as geting any reception so I can't make calls etc, but there is definately 02 reception in my flat. Is there something I need to do to make it work? Have I just wasted £5?!

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

was there an expiry date on the O2 pack? Take it back to the shop and show them its not working.

hey thanks Greentea I looked for an expiry date and didn't see one. I eventually phoned 02 which i hate doing! but they said it had been disconnected, and they would try to reconnect within 24hrs but they guarantee it would work-which is weird but anyway... I didn't phone them in the first place cause i wan't sure how they would feel about me buying a sim in a corner shop but they didn't seem to mind.

anyway thanks, if it still doesn't work i am definitely taking it back, 02 said they could send out a new one for free if it doesn't reconnect which is fine but doesn't help my holiday quandry!
