hello
i know someone who has been committing serious crimes whilst on shift, in a trusted public role.
i recently reported them anonymously, online, via the employer's general HR contact form.
now, i am very concerned that i may be identified from my IP address or something?

i cannot sleep

could you anonymously ring the HR dept and ask about procedures etc?LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0

What makes you think the company would to the length of attempting to track someone down via there ip address. Yes quite easy to trace IP, but back to the server provider, then unless they hack there system or get court order to reveal your details. Then chances of them finding out who sent the complaint is very slim.
Unless you included details only you knew.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Why would they wish to trace your IP? Even if they went to the trouble of obtaining your IP address, they would discover your Internet Service Provider.. They would have to contact the ISP with a court order to get your details.
Don't worry.

i dunno - maybe i feel a bit guilty

if they found out it was me - i would lose a lot of good friends (they fail to see the crimes as anything other than making a bit of extra cash)
admittedly, my main battle is with myself - did i do it because i really think it is wrong - or because i am jealous of their lavish lifestyle (and their greed & boasting) ?

Only you can decide that, nothing wrong with making a bit of extra cash. As long as your not stealing from someone, breaking the law or hurting someone in the process.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

the law was being broken, although am not sure if anyone was being hurt.
i wish i hadnt dont it tbh - but their boasting about their next cruise tipped me over the edge
the person was dealing drugs whilst on shift

Stop worrying about it.
The only way they will find out is by reading what you say here or if you tell anyone.
I'd be tempted to have all traces of it removed as they may find your post later & put 2 & 2 together based on other posts you make.0 -

You did right. And YES, someone will be hurt. Drugs is drugs. How do you know they are not selling it to kids or some junky who is going to beat your mother to death? I would of called the police whilst it was in their possession for sure. Drugs kill.

The employer ought to have an appropriate Whistleblower(s) Policy, as part of their battery of Policies and Procedures, which deals with this type of matter, and protects the whistleblower appropriately.0
