Mandatory proof regarding Universal Jobmatch
Comments

It is mandatory from march that jobseekers register and use UJ as part of their jobsearch.
It is not mandatory that you give JCP access to view your account.
It really makes to difference to JCP as long as you can provide evidence of your job search or proof you have applied to any matched vacancies. This can be screen prints or e-mails.
It was 'supposed' to be mandatory from 4th March, but it still is NOT.
This is an extract from a Freedom of Information request response made to the DWP FOI Team - dated 28th Jan 2013.... Here
''As mentioned in our last reply, it is not currently mandatory for jobseekers to create a Universal Jobmatch (UJ) account. Therefore if a JSA claimant chooses not to create an account or wishes to no longer use their account, they are free to do so without the risk of a sanction being imposed.
That said, we do intend to introduce mandatory use of Universal Jobmatch during 2013. It has always been our intention to mandate some JSA claimants to register with Universal Jobmatch and create or upload a CV so that they can make full use of the service.
We intend to do this under a Jobseeker’s Direction, when some changes have been made to the service to fully support this. Jobseeker’s Directions require Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants to take specific actions which will help them find work, and failure to do so without good reason may result in a benefit sanction. .''
To my knowledge the above still stands.
It is not mandatory but down to the discretion of the advisor and whether they think you're doing enough to look for work. They can make it mandatory via a jobseekers' direction (and no doubt many will) but as yet it isn't necessarily so.0 -
Very true for most of what you say. But it is still not mandatory to register with UJM unless directed to do so in a job direction, In writing. It is mandatory from march that jobseekers register and use UJ as part of their jobsearch.
