Sick note - when am I back in work?

I think the user meant (as user has clearly stated) that she has not 'spoken' to her/his employer wanting not to be coerced into returning to work when still unfit and recovering from surgery as this appears to be common practice in her/his place of work. He/she then goes on to explain that she/he has emailed. I have to agree that you seem to be a particularly combative sort and have provided neither support or useful info with regard to this issue. If you have, excuse me, but I can't see it.
They said they hadn't been in touch.
They asked for opinions on what the fit-note meant as to a return date and virtually everyone said the same. I can only presume that it wasn't the answer they wanted.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If your sicknote states that you are off till the 6th then you dont go back till the 7th0

Yes, but poster subsequently explained that he/she had emailed. So why harp on about it. Personally, I do not see the point in being a nit-picker for the sake of it. With regard to the return date, the jury still seems to be out on that and for that reason, the poster would best be advised to either contact her doctor if still unfit for work, contact her employer to say when she will be in, or both.0

Which is exactly what I have been saying.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I would agree, with you and others, that a simple phone call would solve this problem. It is good practice to keep in touch with an employer with regard to planned return dates.0 -

I emailed once because the time given on fit note and recovery time suggested by nurse(could be upto six weeks)was a lot longer than the impression I'd been given at pre op appointment (after which id spoken to my manager) so I did inform them of that. I meant I was not in any regular contact i.e. 'in touch'. Yet again I feel that you are nit picking my posts apart perhaps more than necessary. Apart from that, your comment is not at all relevant. You just seem to want to berate me for some perceived wrong doing and I don't think I've done much wrong at all. You're not the only one who does that on this forum, its rife with it. I was a lurker on here for a long time and its what puts me off participating more in the forum.
With regard to the 'until' part of the note, I cannot remember if it was specifically until or to or even up to. I have given the note to my employer, and my memory is not photographic. I think i meant more that it did not say '2 weeks' or anything like that. I remember the two dates stated were 23/04/13 and 07/05/13 but again the until/to/upto part I can't 100% recall, perhaps that's why I've been more inclined to think the dates were inclusive.
Anyway, I've been in touch via email today and I am back in on Wednesday and gonna see how well I cope. Maybe do some 'lighter duties' for a little whiletbh, I can't wait, I've been bored out of my head, just not sure if I'm quite ready but we will see.
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
Glad you've got it sorted and hope that your return to work goes well. To be honest having been in touch by e-mail to confirm your sick leave I wouldn't have been in touch again either until shortly before returning to confirm with them that I was expected on that date.
It's not a case of berating you for a perceived wrong at all. We are all different and can only speak of our own experience.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
