Sick note - when am I back in work?
Comments
-
I haven't been in touch with my employer as I have been off work recovering from surgery. My partner delivered my sick note to work. My priority has been recovering, not finding out when I am back in work. I don't think that's at all unreasonable, although the tone of your post would suggest otherwise.
I am sorry I have not been more timely in my enquiries, but forgive me for saying, it's not really your place to remonstrate with me for it.
I am, however, trying to find out now.
I seem to have found what I need from the dwp website.
Thanks for the response.
Sorry if you thought I was remonstrating with you but have to admit I'm surprised that you haven't been in contact with your work.
I hope that you have recovered well and that your employer is expecting you on the appropriate date.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

To be completely honest, it only struck me yesterday and my uncertainty has grown since then, developing into full blown anxiety about the issue. I sincerely hope there is no contention and they are expecting me back on Wednesday as that is when I will be returning.
I feel like there are so many people on here who want to pick apart people's posts and 'tell them off' about the things they didn't do right, instead of 'just' helping them. At times it is so unfriendly. I won't allow myself to be subjected to it. So I think I'm done with mse.0 -

Please don't leave on the basis on what's been said here. Remember we can only answer using the information given. Personally I thought no-one was telling you offLost my soulmate so life is empty.

Your employers would probably welcome a call to confirm you will be coming in on Wednesday rather than handing in another sick note. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I'll return on Wednesday, if I'm well enough. I've spent 13 years putting my job before my health which got me into this situation in the first place.
My employer would obviously prefer that to be sooner.
And, I didn't just hand in a sick note. My operation was planned in advance and I did email work to let them know the dates of my sick/fit note pronto post op.
I generally have a good relationship with my employer because I am well regarded, but with regard to sickness absence, i have probably not been in touch, not consciously, to avoid any opportunity for them to try and coerce me into going into work sooner because that HAS happened to me before now on at least 2 occasions, and generally as employees we are required to put the job before personal health and well being. Just this once, I'm not. Categorically not.0 -
I would call them on the sixth and ask if they were expecting you back tomorrow or the day after.
Personally I think the wording of the sick line means up to and including the 7th therefore back to work on the 8th.
I also don't think anyone was having a go at you. When I read your post saying you felt people were picking on you, I had to re-read the posts as I thought I missed something.
Hope you feel better soon, take the time to rest and recover xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
From the dwp website regarding section 5 of the fit note.
'The period that your doctor’s advice covers. This will either be from the date of the assessment (Box 1), or between a particular start and end date. These dates are inclusive (so a fit note dated from 2 April to 10 April will no longer apply from 11 April onwards)'.
I take that to mean in my case I would be back in on the 8th.
The section that you refer to has a from date and a to date there is no mention of untill which you originaly quoted 'until 7th may' This sugests to me that the doctor may have written it in the section "This will be the case for" though the doctor ought to have crossed out the word for as using until does not really fit in with the new notes as it did with the old sick notes.0 -
Whoever wrote the sick note may not have had a clear understanding of English. Until means up to, it doesn't mean up to and including the 7th..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You said you hadn't been in touch with your employer before and now you're saying that you e-mailed them post-op to inform them of your dates of sick-leave.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I think the user meant (as user has clearly stated) that she has not 'spoken' to her/his employer wanting not to be coerced into returning to work when still unfit and recovering from surgery as this appears to be common practice in her/his place of work. He/she then goes on to explain that she/he has emailed. I have to agree that you seem to be a particularly combative sort and have provided neither support or useful info with regard to this issue. If you have, excuse me, but I can't see it.0
