Best internet for a Student?

Hi, I'm finishing my first year at University, and moving out of halls. So, I'll have to get my my internet sorted out, except the house I'm moving into does not have a telephone line, so what is the best thing for me?
Info -
I'm moving in at the beginning of june, and will be moving out at the end of june 2014, So will need it for 12 months approx, although I don't mind not getting one until july - august time.
I download a lot, use the internet, iPlayer etc... I'm not sure how much Gb/Mb I'm using though.
I'm going abroad 2014-2015, so can't do a 24 month contract - unless I could pause the contract for 12 months?
All of the 1 month deals have really bad download speeds, so I'm not sure what to do
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

most broadband deals are for 12 months, and some give a free landline installation.
Talktalk for instance has 12 months half price at the moment, so £3.25 a month plus line rental of £14.50, or if you pay £114 up front for 12 months line rental it works out as £9.50 a month, so £12.75 a month all in.
You need to pay £50 for a line install, but it gets refunded, in the form of a credit on your bill.

so pay £164 upfront, and you get to have a year without any bills...0 -
You can't 'pause' a contract.
The length of the minimum term (not 'length of the contract') has no bearing on the line speed. You get whatever speed your line can support.
Short term broadband contracts are plentiful, short term line rental contracts less so, so you'll probably be looking at a 12m line rental minimum term. On top of this you'll have the cost of a new line provision-anything from £40 to £130 depending on provider.

when i signed up to talktalk new last year they refunded me the cost of the new line rental. It does mean you can't get the voucher for signing up, but you can get some cashback from topcashback which would help http://www.topcashback.co.uk/talk-talk/ I personally don't bother with the tv package as its just a glorified freeview with iplayer etc which you can watch online anyway. If you pay the landline upfront and get the topcashback offer you can get it for 132.80 for the year including your new line connection. The other thing is its usually better signing up as a 'new customer' after 12 months of signing off them as you get better offers, but you can barter them to get it cheaper as an existing customer if you were to stay in future so its swings and roundabouts:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
