Apologies if I'm not in the right place... just looking for some suggestions on what can I change about my diet, as I feel like I'm gaining weight with no reason. I think I eat healthy and could probably up my exercise level a bit but still... I gained 4 kgs in the past couple of months, out of the blue. (I'm 64kg now, use to be 59-61 range, and 168cm - sorry can't get used to stone and pounds).

I'm not looking for a quick fix, just a long term lifestyle change if that makes sense...

thanks a lot for any suggestions!

Please hun, go see your GP - sudden weight gain needs to be investigated just as much as unexplained weight loss.

Your diet sounds just fine - but the way everyone has decided to put you ON a diet without investigating the cause of this weight gain may lull you into a false sense of security. only one other poster (max) seems to have picked up this could be a medical matter. the rest just want to put you on a 'diet'!

With the further information given, I agree with you a visit to the GP should be the first move - but, in the first post, londoniana asked for help with losing weight and that's what people were trying to help with.

That is true Mojisola - but if someone came on here complaining of losing weight at a stone a month without dieting, then the advice would be to see GP! at least, I hope it would!

Yes I thought about mentioning it to my GP next time when I see her, as there are no other symptoms I wasn't sure about making a separate appointment.

The way I understood the first post was OP asking for help with "her diet", ie: her general eating habits. I didn't think she meant "diet" as in "going on a diet".

To me (random non-professional stranger), her diet (eating habits) seems fine, which is why I thought she should ask her GP about the unexplained weight gain. :)

Make one Londoniana - she won't mind. call it preventative measures! you just want to ensure there are no physical or medical reasons for the weight gain and I am sure she can give you dietary advice!

If I were you I would make an appointment. You seem quite clued up about what you're eating, you're sure you're not pregnant and you have a condition you're aware of, but which could have changed. Unexplained weight loss or gain should always be investigated.

that is what I thought too max. unfortunately the word 'diet' now has different connotations to its real meaning.

It sounds like your thyroid is playing up? Even being in the low end of normal can make people gain weight. Worth investigating via GP ?
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I agree too, time for GP, especially with a history of thyroid dysfunction.

If your diet is exactly as you describe it, not only you shouldn't be put on weight, but you could expect to lose some. Cutting down further would become an unhealthy diet.
