Car insurance not sure about no claims discount

Hi,
About 8 years ago I owned a Nissan Micra and insured it under my own name for 4 years until I sold the car .
I decided with my father to buy a joint car as we both only drove a few miles a week. My father was the policy holder with saga and I was a named driver.
I've now bought a new car and would like to insure the car under my own name. As I was only a named driver on my fathers policy I don't think I can use the no claims discount that was built up on the shared car? Could I use the no claims discount I accumulated on the Micra? Thanks

Sorry No. No claims only lasts for two years so its lost.
Try phoning some insurers as I believe some will give you some entitlement for being a named driver. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
I have just checked I have only owned the car with my father for less than 2 years. I thought it was longer. My old policy is within 2 years. I will phone them up to see if I can get proof of no claims discount.
Does anybody know which insurers will accept no claims up to 2 years? Are some of them only 12 months? Is there a list anywhere? Thanks0 -
It would also be good to know which insurers give you entitlement for being a named driver? Thanks0

Look for an introductory NCD which is often given to those in your situation, but only from Brokers or direct negotiating - online quote services rarely provide this.0

The only NCD you actually have is what you have written proof of !!0
