Honda accident assistance vs insurance
My mum had a prang in her car yesterday (reversed into a tree). The boot door will need replacing and a new rear windscreen as it shattered.
Now my mum went through Honda accident assistance as she wanted it repaired by Honda rather than any old body shop chosen by her insurance company as the car is still under manufacturers warranty.
Now she is panicking that she hasn't informed her insurance properly as it tells her to in her policy booklet. Honda assistance have said we sort it all out with the insurance company so don't worry, but my mum is a worrier and is scared this will invalidate her insurance or something.
I have told her not to worry and that Honda will sort it all out. Thy have told her they will get her a courtesy car Tuesday (due to bank holiday) and the aa will recover the car to Honda on Tuesday.
Should she be worried? Are the insurance company going to be stroppy? She knows she has to be her excess an obviously her premium will go up on renewal (she has protected no claims).
Thanks in advance.

She wont have any problem. The insurance can advise her to use one of their approved repairer's but they can't legally insist, she's entitled to take it to the repairer of her choice. Has she actually spoken to her insurer herself?0

She hasn't spoken to her insurer yet as Honda assistance said they deal with it all and she doesn't have to call them.
Is that right?0 -
Which Insurer is she with, some Insurers charge higher excesses if you use a main dealer0

If I were you I would get your Mum to phone her insurance company just to be sure. I can't see it being a problem but I expect the insurance policy strictly requires all accidents to be reported within 24 hours.0

Well Honda accident insurance don't seem to be doing very well so far. Called lv today to check courtesy car is covered and they hadn't heard from Honda at all. Mum was livid so called Honda and asked what they are playing at. Waiting for a call back from then now. I asked them 3 times on Saturday if we had to call lv and they said no we deal with it all for you. I also said our policy says we must inform them ASAP and the guy said yep we will be getting in touch with them now.0

shouldn't it be your mum who should report to the insurer as they would want to know her version of the story? i mean at the end of the day honda assistance has nothing to lose why don't you just inform your own insurer for information purpose only? and say someone will be in touch regarding the accident or something0 -

Apparently this is the 'joy' of using this service that Honda provide. It means you only tell them once and everything is dealt with. It 'takes the hassle' out of claiming lol.
Just hope that the insurance don't kick off and refuse to pay as we will take it further with Honda. They assured us 3 times that we definitely don't have to call the insurance company. They deal with it all.0 -
