Hi.
Just wondered if anyone can help? Looking at going to Wembley next week to the play off finals. I live in Leeds and wondered what is the best way to get there? thinking of probably driving or train if easier/cheaper! There are 4 of us going!
Are we best driving to the outskirts then getting tube in? never done it before so a little confused!
Thanks

If you drive in come down the M! and park. Then get the tube to Wembley park or Chiltern Line to Wembley Stadium. Both stations are next to the ground and about 5 minute walk.
For tube you need the Metropolitan or Jubilee Line. You can get the Met at a number of stations not too far off M1 I would suggest that Watford (leave M1 at J6 and follow A412 towards Watford/Rickmansworth for approx 4 miles. After the underpass on edge Watford Town Centre take third turning on right and it will take you straight up to the tube station see here
Or otherwise go to Rickmansworth sation where there is a station car park. Leave M1 at J6A (the one prior to J6) and join the M25 (it's J21 on M25 and follow the signposts for Heathrow - it's anticlockwise direction). Leave M25 at J18 and turn left at top of slip road onto A 404 towards Rickmansworth. Follow for approx 2 miles and you'll see signs for station car park and the station in front of you at the roundabout. See here for a map of Rickmansworth.
Or just look for any stations on Met or Jubilee Line. Will be quieter coming from north than centre of London where most people will return to to catch overground or coaches. Journey time from watford is approx 25 mins by tube and 3 - 4 mins shorter from Rickmansworth. Trains are timetabled to run approx every 10 mins on all days of the play offs.
If you want more info on trains and public transport in the London area, including a journey planner, go to the TfL website.
Enjoy the game. BTW, Who are you supporting as there are no teams from the Yorkshire area involved in the play offs?
ps if you do use Met Line make sure you get on the correct train coming back as the line splits 3 ways. On the above suggestions you need a train with a Watford destination board.0 -
I'd recommend coming off the M1 at Stanmore and getting the tube in to Wembley Park from there. There's a big car park at Stanmore station plus it's only a few minutes off motorway.0

Yep, that's another option Off M1 at J4 on to A41. Right at first roundabout onto A410, keep going through next roundabout and Stanmore station is about along on left.It is the end of the Jubilee line, trains about every 10 mins.0 -

Yes, Mr_P - who are you supporting? It had better be the mighty Rams!
I've used Stanmore when I went down to Lord's for a 1-day international and can highly recommend it. I read on one of the Derby County forums that someone used it for the England Under 21 match at Wembley the other week and they said that they got there early and the car park was already filling up pretty quickly. There's about 450 spaces but no option to pre-book. I'd get down there as early as possible. This space has been intentionally left blank0 -
As usual this site comes up trumps, i was just looking for this info...
!!! on you pool.......Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007
CCC Play Off Winners 20100 -
No one appears to have mentioned the fact that there is a railway station at the ground. It is called 'Wembley Stadium' (helpfully) and its served by Chiltern on the Marylebone to Birmingham route. So you could go by train from Leeds (connect at Brum or London).0

Baggies to go up for no other reason than to see Billy "Job Done" Davies bottle it when the going gets tough again.
Playoffs last year were a fanatastic weekend only spoiled by 90 minutes of football.
Enjoy your day out.0
