Flights to USA - is this good price ?

Hi folks,
I've been looking at flights to the states for September and the best i can find is £415 each (via Opodo) and just wondered if this seemed like a good/fair price ?
Flights :-
Glasgow to San Francisco - 17th September
Las Vegas to Glasgow - 1st October
Also .... looking to drive from San Francisco to Vegas ..... should we book a car from here ? is it cheaper to do a 'fly-drive' ? or just book the flights then sort out car hire when we get there?
Thanks for your help.

Book a car from here through Holiday Autos, Auto Europe or the like - it should be a near all-inclusive price. If you book it on arrival there will be a tempting headline rate but loads of extras in the form of various insurances and charges. Bear in mind you will almost certainly pay a one-way fee, whichever way you book it.
Not an expert on the air fare but it doesn't look too bad.0 -
Hi there,
Thanks for the replies.
I meant to say the flight quoted was with US Airways via Phili. Doesn't seem a bad price from looking about.
With the hire car i'll look to book something this side (via quidco is possible).... something with good cars, insurance etc. We're spending a few days in SF so probably leave getting a hire car until we're heading to LV... no point paying for it to sit parked up for 4 or 5 days. Should keep the cost down a bit that way.
Any other replies, advice, comments etc happily received.
Thanks again.0 -
Are you happy with the flight price? if so book it.
It may come down a bit, it may go up a bit, it may not even be available next time you look.
I cant comment on Glagow flights but if it was London I would prefer it around the £350 mark.
Car hire, as others have said def book it here and i would opt for the fully inclusive of prepaid full tank of fuel and additional drivers (if more than one of you may drive).
Others to consider besides airlinenetwork are
https://www.yescarhire.com
https://www.carhire3000.com.
I have used all three with no problems.0 -

Not a bad price considering Mr Brown has increased Taxes on flghts.
I flew US Airways this year and last year via Philadlephia. PTV in seats in economy.0 -

Seems not too bad a price. I've checked out flights to various destinations in the States for a few people recently and they have all been over £400.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Hi again,
Thanks again for the latest posts.
I think £830 for the two of us will be about as good as it gets. To be honest i didn't think it was too bad considering it was from Glasgow. I did look at doing the miles & money trick on Virgin but even that was working out at £880ish (although that was direct flights) .... but then i'd also need to get to London and possibly stay overnight.
I've been trying to register on US Airways miles club for the last day or two but keeps telling me there is a problem with the site. I've dropped them an email about it and as soon as it's back up i'll register, get member number and get on and book the flights.
Had a look at car hire (ones mentioned above) and looks like it'll be much the same prices everywhere. In the region of £250 for a decent car, decent insurance etc. Again not so bad ... would probably cost that for flights from SF to LV anyroads plus the car lets us see a bit more of the West Coast. Did have a look a orlando site but as someone else said it looked like all east coast stuff.
Will let you know who i eventually go with and what price/deal etc i get ..... just in case it's of any use/interest to others.
Cheers,

If price is the issue...I doubt two internal flights would be anything like £250, you should be able to get them for £50 each or less.0
