  • I had a £600 bill from T mobile a couple of years ago, they said it was for 3 days mobile internet access ! while they admitted that was not physically possible they chased me through 2 debt collection agencies for over a year, until they just gave up. They are truly idiots. cost everyone concerned a lot of money, i had to go to the phone box with a sack of change to try to get through to them, like talking to a paving slab.

dont pay it and good luck.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Even yours Andy.

Im not trying to 'get out' of paying- just wondering why it may have taken them 2.5 years to inform me of this, when they always had my contact details (hence my long post including already having a Tmobile phone- to indicate that I was an 'active' customer)

Ill ring them on monday and see if I can come to some kind of arrangement with them.

My point was just that if you're going to make a complaint, you need to exhaust the process with them prior to Ofcom/whatever.

Hi all- just an update really. Waited for a detailed summary to come through and a copy of bills etc. The statement came today- it appears that someone has made almost £600 calls to various foreign places, mainly Romania and Italy. I know that this isnt me. Just spoke to a lady at T Mobile who said to write in again and state that these calls were not made by me- but she did add that 'someone' must have accessed the old dongle and taken out the SIM card. I havent seen the dongle for about 3 years. Not sure what else I can do going forward.

Pay the bill as you're liable for it?

    But what for?

    Missing Dongle monthly rental?

Calls made on a dongle to overseas?????

If these were "calls", then who was paying the monthly line rental, of has that bill to come as well??

I'm not clear what the actual charges are for, whether they are exhaustive or not. Seems very confused to me.

I guess it's both the rental and the calls, although it's odd that the dongle was sold with a sim enabled for making calls.

I dont understand how this has happened? No payment was taken from my account- no rental at all- all of a sudden £665 bill 2.5 years after I had last even SEEN the bloody dongle.

Ill continue to liaise with T Mobile but for suggesting that I'm 'liable' for it I don't agree- anyone with half a brain can see that something dodgy has gone on.

What if it was online billing?

Most places that offer online billing still send an email to say the bill is ready, and they may include a link to reach it [also subject to log-in of course].

    I think it's obvious how.

By definition the rental is not related to the usage. Then somebody found your abandoned dongle, put the sim into a phone and ....

The only line of defense I see is why mobile broadband sim card was enabled for calls.
