Lot of charity shops & 2nd hand shops don't take them anymore.
When my Dad died I couldn't find anyone to take his as new mobility scooter. Even the actual mobility dealers weren't interested in second hand - unless you were buying a new one from them. Elf and safety don't ya know...

Some don't take electrical items full stop as they don't want to pay to PAT test before putting on sale.0 -

Seems to be for the EURO-4H chassis, and it's a free download!0 -

Even if they don't, LCD displays contain far less material, far less embedded carbon and (particularly) far fewer toxic materials, and during their lifetime use far less energy.0 -

Really? On my 42" Kuro plasma SD content is just good as my old Sony CRT telly. But then again i didn't buy the Kuro from Tesco:rotfl:0 -
Euro 4H download here: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/22705/Panasonic_TX-AS10C.html
Might help but it's for a 29" version... but many parts will be the same.

Cheers for the links - top one seems promising, thus then tries to install spam/spyware first..2nd download, doesn't work. Oops. I'll keep looking. I understand about tracing the grid lines etc, but they are very high voltage, and the TV needs to be tested with the chassis 'parked', ie stored vertically. As I don't have all the necessary safety cut off/earth equipment at home, ie not in a workshop, might give that a miss for now, unless I can get definitive answers regarding this colour decoder TDA chip mystery that isn't listed in the chassis, but not specific model manual I already have. Will have to haul the beast out and do cold checks only...0

I've become something of a HD snob to be honest, I find I can't even watch BBC channels in standard definition.0 -

If you're working on the live set you most certainly do not want to be anywhere near an earth! - TV engineers always repair with one hand in their pocket!

What size was your last CRT - 28 or 32 inches? What size is your current flatscreen? 40 plus? The picture you're watching has 576 lines, interlaced. That didn't improve until HD came along, so as you were buying bigger and bigger TVs, you were simply zooming in further on the same picture, regardless of whether it was CRT, Plasma or LCD.0
