The biggest requests are sort of sides for the burgers, steaks etc. my pasta salad is the first request. merely cold cooked pasta with marie rose sauce, then cooked prawns and very finely chopped red peppers. I sometimes use chopped fresh tomato instead.
marie rose sauce aka 'Pink Sauce' by the grandkids.
equal quantities of mayo, salad cream and tomato ketchup with a couple of drops of worcerster sauce and a little salt and pepper.
the other is for mandarin salad - cold cooked rice (basmati or jasmine) with drained tinned mandarin oranges mixed through.
They also like Hawaiian salad - which is cold cooked rice with cooked French beans or peas, Sweetcorn and pineapple chunks (chunks of ham optional if vegetarians present).0 -
I often get asked to do coleslaw - I don't think I do it in any amazing way but people love it. Just the cabbage, onion and carrot grated. I use quite a bit of carrot so is sweet - low fat mayonnaise and a squirt of salad cream with lots of black pepper.
I also like doing rice salad. Cooked long grain rice stirred into fried onions, peppers and peas!
NB: this isn't my signature dish but a bbq favourite!0 -
Shortbread! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

My signature dish since school (28 years) is pineapple upside-down cake. It has always, except once, always turned out perfectly. The one time it did not was when I was baking it for the practical of my Domestic Science A level practical:(
