Changing Car Insurance with the Same Insurance Company

I took out an insurance policy on my current car with Quote Me Happy in February 2013 at a cost of £450.

I'm in the process of buying a new car and have obtained a quote of £300 (approx) from the same company via Go Compare. This is easily the cheapest quote I have managed to find.

Can anyone tell me how much money I can expect to lose by cancelling my existing policy and taking out the cover on my new car?

I know they will take the payment for the three months that have elapsed but can I expect to incur a fee for changing my policy?

I have emailed Quote Me Happy but am yet to receive a reply and I do not have a telephone number for them (I don't think they can even be contacted by phone unless it is related to a claim)

I am a complete novice in this situation so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Its not just the money. Dont forget you lose the 3 months of no claims earned so far this year.

Providing you have now made any claims. £55 admin fee + time on cover + extras like legal protection etc.

You maybe looking at half what you paid.

Why not just change the car on the current policy? One admin fee and all dusted.

It sounds like it may be a nightmare to try and start a new policy, maybe just changing the car on the current policy is the best option.

Also taking into account the no claims, it would be a shame to lose the three months that I have earned on my existing policy.

Many thanks for your help, it is much appreciated
