When I was lucky enough to be insured by Elephant, I told them I couldn't afford there admin fee and they halved it straight away. Don't ask, don't get :money:

You are obviously one of the many people who cannot be bothered to read the terms and conditions before buying.

If you don't want this to happen again you really need to do your research before changing insurer.

or just make sure you dont move house or change car for a year :D

I have to say I read the documentation fully so make a point of knowing what modifications will cost. It cannot be passed as a rip off IF they did not disclose their charges up front, if they did then you knowingly agreed to pay as you ad X days to read the policy and reject it if you didn't like what their quoted tariff.

Complaining after the event achieves nothing, except show that you took no care in deciding which insurer to give your business to!

When I was with Elephant they didn't charge me for change of address. I expected a bill but they never mentioned it and I was never charged. My current insurer charges £17 for changes but when I took out the insurance I said I was only doing so on the basis that I would not be charged an admin fee if I decided to make changes. They agreed, put a note on my file and have lived up to their promise, as I found out recently.

Nearly all of the cheap gutter online Insurers headline on price: "LOW LOW PRICE!" and gouge it back on change of address, change of vehicle, driving abroad admin fees.

Hi, I'll ask here rather than start a new thread.

Does anyone know which car insurers penalise less heavily (or even not at all) for change of address?

I know I'll be moving within the 12 months....

If you prefer not to pay these fees then spend a couple of hundred pounds more on your policy and go with a company like Allianz.

pay a few hundred more to save £35???

Halifax charge £35 admin fee for a change in policy too. I know, because in one year, I moved house, and changed my car three times (two broken down beyond repair, one in an accident). £35 fee each time.
