Talisker Distillery, coral beach near Dunvegan, Skye Silver and The Three Chimneys for a special meal.

I also hope you are going by ferry, boycott the Bridge.

    The bridge is rather underwhelming.

We went on a glass bottom boat trip with http://www.seaprobeatlantis.com/
The skipper is a bit of a maverick and has run-ins with the farm fisheries who like to shoot seals.

The boat trip from Elgol to the Cuillins was memorable on a stunningly beautiful day.

take the road up to the NW of the island to uig and just after you go through uig there is a road that goes straight across the Trottenish peninsula to the east of the island , its an amazing drive and the views of the mountains when you ascend the road to the east coast are mindblowing and were recently used in the filming of the film promethius , for the most stunning bay and photographic oportunity i have ever seen take the road to the southernmost point of the island and take the last road on the right as you approach the ferry terminal, its a single track road but look to the left of you after 100 yards or so and you will see what i mean , my wifes cousin is an island doctor and has a house in carbost and we stayed there last year for a while, if it rains (which it does up there sometimes :-)) dont stay in but go out and explore as it changes the appearance of the island , where there was a steep ravine or mountain previously there will suddenly be a waterfall and rainbows often pop up at random , i found the island enchanting and will be spending a good few holidays there in future

    A couple more.

    Kilt Rock waterfall and Quiraing.
  • Dear M,

Ferry to Glenelg. Brochs. Eilean Donan Castle. Back over the bridge or vice versa.

    Dunvegan castle.

Skye Bataks at Portree if you like jazzy print clothing.
    Other good gifty shops too.

It's a little bit of a trek from Skye but if you've gone all that way already then make the most of it:

Bealach na Ba pass to Applecross. Have langoustines at the Applecross Inn.
These are essential parts of our regular Highlands hols.,

    regards,
    Colin

No idea. I've never heard of anyone boycotting the bridge since the tolls were removed (nearly ten years ago).

Nice website here for the OP http://www.lochalsh.co.uk/index.html

I have wrote all the places down. I am so excited I can't wait. We are staying in Glendale near Neist point, so some of the places are quite near. We have the car anyway and the maps, wllies etc lol. We are hoping to take the ferry at mallaig as the bridge seems a bit underwhelming. I have just got a bigger memory card for all the pics I will take, so Thanks guys for the advice.

One last question: Would I be better to food shop in Fort William or actually hope the village shop has what I will need.?
    Thanks
    Maureen
