As it appears she has a very nice flat in an area she wants, rural and without much social housing, then I think she has two options. One is to get a lodger (and I will re-iterate for the umpteenth time it does not have to be the nearest axe murderer off the street, it could be somebody you already know, or know of), or pay part of the rent.
The latter option, whilst not ideal from a small income, seems to me to be a small price to pay for having a nice flat on a secure tenancy in an area she wants to stay in.
Is there another way to generate extra income, such as doing e-bay?
its irrelevant now as my situation is sorted, but i have spent the last couple of months asking everyone i jbow and anyone that they mught know of that needed lodgings.
i still dont agree with how thos reduction in housing benefit has imacted people that have little or no choice, especially the disabled.
and just because i am no longer affected wont stop me campaigning on gehalf of others that are0 -
Next you'll be asking about funding for a gardener ...
so you and dunroamin are both mindreaders>
theres a young las in the upstairs flat and he's already told me not to worry because he likes to do the garden.
sorry to disappoint
you seem to think that im on a constant search to get something for nothing and to up my income. you couldnt be more wrong.
i am content with my level of income, but couldnt manage with it being reduced.
if you were losing £20 out of £100 i very much soubt that you could manage euther.
but fully expect you to say you could ...0 -
I got offered a flat today too! It's 3 floor up with no lift so I won't be moving any time soon.
Letter has went into our local councillor as a house that I did ask for has been allocated elsewhere even though I am apparently top of the list. I wouldn't mind but it has happened several times and I am classed as homeless and in housing crisis because of where I live just now.
Oh and my boiler broke, it's been a good day lol.0 -

I'm worrying about where i'm going to live come julybut that's nothing compared to having needs like yours and nanny's, i'm lucky in that my only limitations are financial and can be worked around

just an uodate and sorry to those who will be disappointed ....
today i received the keys to my new flat. 2 doors away from where i live now, and built at the same time as my current property.
it also has a fully landscaped garden complete with large patio atra and garden shed
I'm glad hon. It's a shame that it came to that, but at least it's worked out in the end. I hope your move goes as smooth as possible and you learn the lay out quickly without too many bumps4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

i'm really sorry to hear that, it seems really unfair.
i was only offered the new flat because it belongs to the same JA as my current property * they only have 8 properties in my area) it has recently been reclassified for general use from supported housing for young people.
i'm just looking forward now and i'm happy that when im ready for a guide dog, i will be in a property that is suitable.
hope you get sorted soon0 -

It's the way they seem to work the housing lists.
Seems like each list will get allocated a certain property, so even though you're at the top of 1 list, their maybe someone above you on another list.
That's what happened with my friend and waiting on a gnd floor flat, her cousin was waiting for any flat, the cousin got the gnd floor. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
so i am selfishly struggling to manage on my income now that i have to pay 1/5 of my cash income towards housing?
there are 2 1 bed prperties... how often do you think they will become available? there are only 2 properties to mutually exchange with ( the same 2 properties)
so either a single person or childless couple. so another few yerars before either would want to move.
you get told the answer to you problem is to downsize, then get called for trying to do what youve been told you should be doing!
welcome to the world0 -

the layout is the best part ... the rooms are in exactly the same position in the new place as in my current place, just a missing door where the second bedroom was!
it seems that im not doing the moving ... i have about 8 people that are doing it for me ( they all offered before anyone accuses me of taking advantage) my PA and her boyfriend are going in tomorrow to paint some walls for me ( i have the paint left from when i decorated this flat.
it doesnt seem like a priority, but i really need some walls painted, as if they are all cream i cant tell where one wall ends and another starts!0 -
welcome to the world
welcome to the world?
you think i have spent my entire life having my @rse wiped by other people?
o was a single working mother, paid full rent and poll tax/cpimcil tax and only received child benefit.
i worked for 30 years until my sight deteriorated to the point where i could no longer continue.
dont try to give me lessons on what living in the real world is like0
