how on earth do people on benefits afford a foreign holiday anyway?! I work my !!!! off & can't afford one! :S
I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is a new thing.
I declared my honeymoon -after I got back as I had no idea where we were going-and had to reclaim. It was booked whilst I was working and in fact even with having the nerve to go ahead with getting married and having a honeymoon was only out of work for a month anyway. This was 1991.
The one thing that is a bit illogical is that it would take me longer and cost me more to travel back from a holiday in Aberdeen than it would most places in Europe for an interview anyway.
As for the poster I quoted often it is cheaper to holiday abroad than in the UK perhaps you should check out the Overseas boardI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

What ever makes you think that ??????
Most policies do cover true redundancy (eg qualifying for the legal definition rather than just been "let go")I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Why not nip down the local job centre in Gran Canaria and make a claim.
It is in the EU after all.0 -
Okay...... It seems that going on holiday for a week rightly or wrongly results in a claim for JSA being stopped and if I could take back time I know for sure which advice I would have given her.
Question is, regarding the claim, Is a "reclaim" regarded as a "new claim" or the continuation of an existing claim?
The answer to this is really important as there is now another issue arisen from this and we need to find out.
I know we cant tar everyone with the same stick but there are some people working in Job Centres who really should be collecting JSA instead.
Any help in regards to my question is appreciated.0 -
I believe would be linked to the previous one and so dealt with as a continuation of the claim.
Might be worth phoning DWP helpline though.0 -
Hi - no, it's not a continuation of the same claim, it's a new one - however, there are very complicated rules within JCP around 'linking' claims so depends for what reason you need to know.0

Ive not read all the replies but in my expericance from my own daughter doing this she was told by the job center its up to their disgression. This is like doing a part time college course, if you are not available for work while studying its up to the job centre to decide. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0
