I can't believe that you got 6 Thanked Posts for this response, no doubt from The Daily Mail Readers Brigade. Think you got your answer didn't you. Also did you know that Millionaires can claim Job seekers allowance and get it ?
No they can't! If you have £16,000 or more in savings you can't claim.
Edit: I just checked the gov website and inserted the correct figure.Decluttering 2015: 2162/20150 -

It is usually covered but would need to meet the criteria for redundancy payments, 2 years continous service being the main requirement.0 -
She could always say she is going for an interview for a job there, and ask them for travel expenses (Joke)0

So if you are claiming CTC, WTC, HB, CTB, CB you can go away for up to 8 weeks without interrupting your claim. For CB, your children don't even have to live here. But if you're unemployed you can't claim?0

That's Income-Based JSA.
Contributions-Based is not affected by savings/capital.

WRONG !!!!!!!!!!
As long as you have paid enough NI contributions for the past 2 tax years anyone can claim JSA, even millionaires. As usual on this type of thread you have people with no experience posting incorrect facts thinking that they know more then people with experience in that particular field0 -
Thanks to all who have contributed to this post thus far........ I was aware that I would get some replies relating to the fact that my daughter is going on holiday at all while claiming JSA and how on earth can she afford it.
Situation is that this is a much needed holiday after a abusive relationship has finally come to an end and was paid for by other family members and included some spending money.... so some of the statements made here without knowing the facts seem a little cruel!
Thanks to KingfisherBlue for your kind words.
I could relate a long list of demands which her advisor has deemed necessary to fulfill her claim for JSA, demands which I consider unreasonable and unnecessary but will no doubt be told that " this is policy", so I wont bother.
Just a thought! Maybe if she had been a few years younger and a persistent offender she may well have had her holiday paid for, you know!, just to help with rehabilitation.!!!0 -
I know someone who went on holiday for a week on a non signing week and claimed JSA. Has a lot of money in the bank to pay for the holiday and nobody checked, found out or anything, and continued to claim for the full 6 months CB JSA0
