Well done on quitting OP, and others on this thread :)

I quit 4 years ago, but I think once you have smoked there is always something in your brain that is receptive to the nicotine. In my case, there are times when my OH smokes that I think it smells disgusting. The other night though, he lit one up and it smelt divine.

I'm not sure why my view differs. But I know not to have 'just one' as my previous attempts at quitting were thwarted by the 'I'll just have one' thing, and then it spiralling.

It will get easier OP, keep at it :D

    Good Morning

I stopped smoking 2 weeks ago and although I am doing pretty good I find the mornings most difficult.

I always got up at 6.45 and had a cup of tea and a ciggie (outside) before daughter got up but now I am hitting the snooze button until the last possible minute to get up and ready.

I know I need to stop this as I am then rushing about trying to get ready for school and work but when the alarm goes off I just can't face getting out of bed.

Will this pass? Do I just need to give myself a kick?

    Thanks

This is me too! I'm in my 7th week now and i still find mornings difficult. I used to have a purpose to getting up when the alarm went off so I could have that first fag of the day, then I'd have 2 or 3 more before work. I smoked 5 or 6 total a day so obviously mornings were the time I craved it most.

I made them laugh in the office though as I was late one day and said because I'd had to change my morning routine around to break the habit I'd managed to miss my bus!!

I got free products for signing up to quit when we had No Smoking Day at work. I went for the Niquitin lozenges but they were too strong and gave me a weird feeling like a cross between a panic attack and heartburn so I haven't bothered with them again.

It'll get better, I'm not as bad as I was and I'm enjoying not smelling smoke on myself.

Yes it'll pass and you too can become a self righteous preacher like me! 5 yrs for me now, ''smokers stink''! Keep going it is really worth it. I smoked for 20 years, wish I had never started in the first place, but hey ho!

when I quit smoking I found I had to change my routine. like you, I had a ciggy with my morning cuppa tea. The cuppa made me think of ciggies, so I got up as usual, but had fruit juice instead while getting on with the morning chores. coffee breaks too tended to go with having a ciggie - so they went as well. I found that not having that first ciggie made it easier - I could spend the morning congratulating myself whenever I thought of having a fag! Two weeks in and I was well on the way. you will too when you have the morning sorted out!
    hope this helped!

I only started drinking the odd cup of coffee now after all thes eyears, as I never saw th epoint in having a cuppa without a ciggy! But one day I felt strong wnough, but it took 5 yrs.
Also strangely, when you gloss paint, the smell I associate with funny smelling cigs and theres nothing to take a break for, but you get used to it x

Firstly congratulations! I quit 9 years ago this June and it was honestly the best decision I have ever made (other than getting rid of the ex!) I had previously tried the nicotine gum, hypnotherapy and cutting down but the main thing which worked was sheer willpower.

I found the first bit easy, then a few challenging weeks but it passes, ate my body weight in carrot sticks and liquorice - felt it beat the cravings and needing something to do with my hands!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Have stopped smoking 40+ a day for 9 years. Have not noticed a difference in my skin etc, was nothing wrong in the first place with breathing etc!

I have noticed I can smell fags though, esp when walking past somebody smoking.

I used the patches, but to be honest just made the decision to stop.
