Last minute euro tunnel prices?

Ok, so I've never drove over to France before but im thinking of having a trip over there.

Does anyone know what the prices are for the euro tunnel if you just turn up? Trying to keep the costs low otherwise it won't happen.

Any other money saving tips for trips to France more than welcome.

Cheers, Mark

If you collect Tesco clubcard points, they can be used to buy tunnel tickets. It does take some forward planning though.

DFDS ferry from Dover is usually cheaper than the tunnel. Diesel is cheaper in France, go with a low tank. Not sure about petrol.
Fill the tank just before you return as well.

I think they charge about two hundred quid each way if you just turn up so that is probably not the best plan
  • You definitely want to pre-book.
There is cashback available via Quidco / Topcashback.

Ferry next week will be about £50 return, double it if you want to go this weekend.
    Tunnel will be expensive.

Walk up tickets are always the most expensive for any form of transport as generally you are desperate and so they can get away with it.

Prebook and use cashback/ points is the way to get it the cheapest. Havent seen any curves to show when it is typically cheapest

Last minute and some types of travel and value never go together, with Eurotunnel best to book in advance.

I normally use the ferry though, normally pay £15 each way or so.

Its strange, I'd been led to believe that last minute tickets were cheaper but apparently they are not. Thanks guys/gals, you may have saved me a bunch.

I'll do a bit more looking into this as were are still not sure when this will happen. Still trying to get an idea of roughly how much it will cost on fuel as well accommodation, though we may tent it just for the fun!

    Thanks.
