has anyone else ever had a buying restriction order MC195

How common is it for petty ebay to do this, in a year I have bought 65 items ay ebay , and two I left negative ratings. The rest positive experiences. I never leave stars by the way, just a line of text and a rating. I am restricted from buying for 2 weeks now and the pair of negs I left have vanished .Like I will even bother my bum if I cant buy, it was around 3 weeks ago I last purchased something.

Ebay want rid of private buyers/sellers who dont use their site often and by sending these to anyone who has ever left a negative feedback it means no buyers will ever leave a negative feedback again even if other people have left negs saying similar reasons!

To keep eBay a trustworthy place for all members, we routinely review buying and selling activity. In reviewing your account, we found:

Consistent and harsh use of low Detailed Seller Ratings for sellers, resulting in an unfair reflection of the sellers? performance.

Because of this behavior, we've:
--Restricted your ability to buy items or place bids for the next 14 days.
--Removed from related seller profiles any neutral or negative Feedback and low detailed seller ratings you have left within the past year.

This restriction only affects buying, and will be automatically lifted after 14 days have passed. You'll still be able to sell on eBay and complete transactions for items you've already won.

Please be aware that if this activity continues, you may be subject to a range of other actions, including suspension of your eBay account.

In the future, if you have a problem with an item, be sure to contact the seller and try to work things out. You can do this by clicking the "Ask a question" link in the listing.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Regards,

eBay

Leaving feedback and stars is voluntary but 2 negs/ 65 is high. Have you been harsh or just been unlucky with your purchases? Can you give some info on why you left negs?

There is a moral to the story - it's the same story we're taught as children about crying "wolf". ;)

Depending on the sort of goods bought 2 negs in so few purchases does seem high. I would only leave a neg if seller was completely unreasonable or forced me to a full dispute to get my money back rather than pay out for a loss - by full dispute i don't mean opening a case, I mean actually refusing to refund and letting it get forced on them by ebay. Even so I probably have left one neg in several hundred transactions in the past year. Actually I have never left a neg for a damaged or lost item, I don't think I've ever left a neutral either.

There have been several people mentioning this on the community boards and generaly it has been welcomed as it shows ebay are watching 'patterns'.

The two negs I have ever left that ebay took off a guy just joined ebay had a handful of feedbacks, hides his listings with everything to private listings and everything in bulk, says on his ad he "sources " his items in the UK, but Boots dont make their make up no7 for anyone else to sell? It was for perfume without any packaging in the UK and said it would be new, he claimed it wasn't fake other buyers have left feedback for him saying "questionable Maybelline item?" and comments about no wrappers on personal use items .

The other neg I opened a case as after 3 weeks I had not received an item worth £30 related to womans health. I did open a case that time. The seller left notes on the case saying she had been on holiday and had now misplaced the items postal receipt, but that she would "go to the post office about it" in the morning but I never heard back. I escalated it and ebay reversed her Paypal back to me.

On one hand Ebay tell you to rate people honestly by the whole way the sale went but if you leave anything other than positive feedback, they later remove it and claim it is unfair, so the dishonest sellers have now a nice handy loophole , anyway, I am not buying anything this weather but i wont leave any feedback in future not good and not bad , that is the best way! Then can let ebay deal with the cheaters who sell fakes or testers as new and don't send items to people as probably forgot or something.

I am sure I read that ebay is trying to rid its site of small fish and keep only business sellers on there and the rules they make change from week to week , they know I am a good seller note they don't want me to stop selling so they get fees , I have one item for sale with 4 watchers just now, after free listing weekend, anyway I wont bid things for excess of the 2 weeks, but I learnt my lessons about never leave a negative again and "just email the sellers," which I did by the way!

    I never leave star s.gif

Which then causes damage to the sellers ratings. THAT is why they have banned you from buying. Not because of your negative feedbacks but because you consistently submit your feedback with 0 star ratings.

Your feedback isn't JUST the positive / neutral / negative thing, it is ALSO your star ratings too. If you choose to leave a positive and text but don't rate the seller then you're screwing their ratings over intentionally and ebay have picked you up for it.

You've openly admitted that you choose to never leave star ratings for any transaction. That makes you a nasty buyer IMO as you're doing it intentionally but then trying to blame ebay because you left two negatives.

Stop trying to destroy sellers ratings and play fair or don't bother leaving any feedback at all. Are you really surprised they removed your two negative feedbacks when they've noticed you trying to destroy seller ratings?

I thought that if you didn't click on the stars, it didn't leave a rating at all (rather than giving 0 stars), as the DSRs are optional.
That's why I thought it was possible to have different total's for each of the ratings.

For what it's worth, I asked why ebay done this, had a very interesting chat live with ebay about this, the fella who sells fake perfume has had similar feedbacks ladies saying same thing, and I left neg to warn other people he was leaving ME retaliatory feedback which ebay removed so now no one will know and he emailed me to say I AM REPORTING YOU which he obviously did do after he got a warning about feedback abuse he left for ME!

The rep Peter said as long as I dont leave negs again I will not face a restriction, I said dont worry I wont be leaving feedback again for sellers. I said this doesnt seem a lot to have left 2 negs in about 300 transactions, and yet he could not tell me much more, extract of the chat log...

yes he left me abusive feedback that was removed by ebay and he said in abusive emails he was reporting me and i note with interest other questionable feedback was left for him buyers saying similar things about the counterfeit or authenticity of his items

    I understand your situation.

it seems unfair I left the neg to warn other people now its gone and hes still doing it, pointless having a feedback score mine is 100% as I have high standards
    Peter Bennett
I do acknowledge your reason and point why you would left them the negative feedback.
    Peter Bennett
Thank you for your patience regarding this matter.

That is incorrect - in the absence of any star rating, 5 star ratings are assumed when Ebay evaluates a seller's stats during their monthly seller reviews.

I'm sure your right, you either rate 1-5 or you dont rate at all. not rating stars has no effect on the seller.
