Maybe it would be useful if MSE could accurately predict these events a couple of weeks in advance rather than a day or half day

Then some of us might have only partly filled our tanks to tide us over to the next price drop

As it is, these parrotted press releases only have limited effect

When prices were rising, the supermarkets were certainly the fastest on the way up, such that for some weeks I had 4 places nearby that were up to 2.8 pence a litre cheaper than Asda

Apart from all that, we want the Tesco 5 x 10p a litre vouchers back again some time soon, as the stockpile of bog rolls has run out as well

Prices should be reading about £1/litre , then i'll cheer (a bit)

And with our near bankrupt country, how would you like to pay for that?

And I just filled up yesterday. Oh well I'll mourn that 70p loss!
Likewise, it always seems to be announced every time that I fill the tank.

On my way home this morning I passed Morrisons(unleaded = 131.9p) and Sainsbury's exactly the same price.

Yet the local large BP garage was one penny cheaper! The first time in 20 odd years I have seen that situation - normally they are 2p to 4p more expensive.

I paid 130.7ppl at Asda 3 months ago so I will contain my excitement at it being 129.7ppl today.

Me too, they get it back in other ways - eg. the Gold Blend has gone up to £6.48

Doesn't this say something about their normal prices ?
Garage owners whinge constantly about their lack of profits - yet when one company drops their prices by a few pence - the others follow suit like sheep - They will soon put them up again even higher - why don't they leave them low ?

    Guess what.

The supermarkets are leading the way again - increasing prices by a penny while their neighbours haven't.

Shall we run a sweepstake to guess when will be the next MSE article trumpeting another cut by the supermarkets, without mentioning the intermediate increase?
