Hi
Wondering if anyone can help
Hubby took a £2200 car loan out with Welcome Finance thru a car dealer. He took the loan out for 2 years (after being told that he could not take the loan out for 12 months) - or so he thought!!!!! (repayments were £160 per month) At the end of the 2 years (March) we applied for a mortgage and was told that he had a loan outstanding. After numerous phone calls to the finance company. He was eventually told that he infact had another 2 years to pay!!!!!!! We have since found out that added to the original loan was a Payment Protection - which he has not asked for. A GAP (which he did want) A breakdown cover (which wasnt wanted) and a warranty (which was also not wanted). He cannot ever remember receiving his copy of the agreement either!!!! We asked about just giving the car up (a W reg Laguna sport) to which we were told: that as there was a default earlier in the 2 year period (of which we new about and had asked permission to hold the loan payments for 2 months when hubby was inbetween jobs) we could not give the car back. We are at our witsend and have a settlement figure for £3400 which we just do not think we should pay! Does anyone have a helpful solution? My hub isnt daft - he has worked in car parts for years. He would not have knowingly took a loan out for 2 grand knowing that he'd got to pay 8 grand back!!!! HELP PLEASE???????? ANYONE??

Put a complaint into the finance company stating everything you have said here.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Thanks for stating the obvious!
We feel that theres bee some fraudulence here. ie the gaps were filled in after hubby had signed a incomplete agreement without having anything explained to him. He did stress tht he didnt want PP, but it has been entered.
Guess we will have to wait see the copy of the original agreement (which they dont seem very keen on sending veryy swiftly)0 -
please use this thread to reply to keep thread altogether. the OP has posted in several places on these boards and it will save repitition. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=4570720

I would write your complaint directly to the Financial Ombudsman Service. http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/
Outline all your points including your last post about additional factors being added to the agreement. I suspect this company has been in trouble with the FO before, and claim back all the PP premiums, warranty and roadside assistance money
Good luck

Thank you.
Its the thought of having to part with yet another lump of money , spread over yet another 2 years. Scary isnt it?0 -
The financial ombudsman can do nothing until you have exhausted a company's own complaints procedures. therefore i suggest you start by complaining to Welcome.0

As tom says, they the FOS will not be interested and will do nothing other than take your letter and put it in an envelope and send it to the firm.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
