Selling Mobile Phones - The Genius of Carphone Warehouse

Today's MSE highlighted the Nokia 100-Virgin PAYG Deal for £14.95 so I thought I would finally succumb and buy my first mobile phone. I got to the Carphone Warehouse website, added the item to my basket, filled in all the details and then was REJECTED. In order to buy my first mobile phone, it was compulsory to already have a mobile phone with a valid mobile phone number. If this system is extended to all e-commerce, the country's debt problem could be solved. You cannot buy anything unless you have already got what you want.

I had the same problem with Carphone Warehouse. I was buying a 24 month contract with the Nokia Lumia 520 at £7.50 on talk mobile. Filled my Debit Card details and Credit checks, got the email saying that it will be here tomorrow.
Over a week later nothing came, I had to ring customer support and got told the payment was cancelled? I was so confused, I was told to re-order the item and I will not be charged for the previous payment.
I'm not going to order from them again, seems a little unorganized if you ask me.Save £2013 in 2013

Tesco's one is likely to be locked and £9 doesn't include topup, although unlocking might be easy and cheap/free.0 -
As an MSE user you should be making use of a cashback website such as Topcashback.
On their site Carphonewarehouse give £3.03 cashback on any payg purchase bringing the price down to £11.92.
I purchased this same deal a few months ago and the cashback came though quite quickly. Sold the sim card on ebay for £7.50 as I wanted to use the phone with an Ovivo sim as a spare.0 -
